San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park

Le San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park se situe dans la ville de San Francisco en Californie, sur la côte Pacifique des États-Unis. Le parc comprend une flotte de vieux navires, un centre d'information touristique, un musée maritime et une bibliothèque. Le parc a d'abord été appelé « musée maritime de San Francisco » avant qu'il ne soit repris par le National Park Service en 1978. Le parc a officiellement ouvert ses portes au public le 27 juin 1988 ; il a accueilli en 2005 plus de 3,9 millions de visiteurs.

1. Anciens navires

La flotte historique du San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park est située dans le parc de Hyde Street Pier (en). Elle comprend les navires suivants :

le Balclutha, cap-hornier de 1886 ; le C.A. Thayer, trois-mâts de 1895 ; l'Eureka, un ferry à vapeur de 1890 ; l'Alma, un voilier à fond plat de 1891 ; l'Hercules, un remorqueur de 1907 ; l'Eppleton Hall, un remorqueur à roues à aubes construit en 1914. La flotte comporte d'autres bateaux moins importants :

l'USS Pampanito (SS-383), un sous-marin de 1943 ; le SS Jeremiah O'Brien, Liberty ship de 1943 ; etc. Conjointement avec le China Camp State Park, une réplique de jonque de pêche à la crevette a été réalisée en 2003, le Grace Quan.

1. Musée maritime

Ce bâtiment est appelé originellement Bathhouse Building : construit en 1936 en style paquebot (Streamline Moderne), il est au centre du Aquatic Park Historic District. La direction artistique avait été soutenue par le Work Projects Administration et confiée à Hilaire Hiler, et Sargent Johnson, dont on peut encore admirer les œuvres, des fresques et des bas-reliefs. L'architecture est signée William Mooser, père et fils.

Aquatic Park Historic District

Aquatic Park Historic District is a National Historic Landmark and building complex on the San Francisco Bay waterfront within San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. The district includes a beach, bathhouse, municipal pier, restrooms, concessions stand, stadia, and two speaker towers.

The San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park is located in San Francisco, California, United States. The park includes a fleet of historic vessels, a visitor center, a maritime museum, and a library/research facility. Formerly referred to as the San Francisco Maritime Museum, the collections were acquired by the National Park Service in 1978. The San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park was authorized in 1988; the maritime museum is among the park's many cultural resources. The park also incorporates the Aquatic Park Historic District, bounded by Van Ness Avenue, Polk Street, and Hyde Street.

Ghirardelli Square

Ghirardelli Square is a landmark public square at the foot of Russian Hill and adjacent to the Aquatic Park Historic District in San Francisco. It is often considered to be part of the tourist attractions at nearby Fisherman's Wharf. A portion of the area was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 as Pioneer Woolen Mills and D. Ghirardelli Company. The square once featured over 40 specialty shops and restaurants. Some of the original shops and restaurants still occupy the square.

The school is a part of the San Francisco Unified School District.

Dolphin Club (San Francisco)

The Dolphin Club, also known as the Dolphin Swimming and Boating Club, is an athletic club in San Francisco, California. It caters to open water swimming, rowing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, and 4-wall handball. The clubhouse and boat house buildings are owned by the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department and leased to the club. The club had 1,000 members in 2010, and claims 1,500 members today.
