Loggerheads and Whitmore ward was a ward in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme, in the county of Staffordshire, England. It covered, amongst others, the villages of Knighton, Hales, Mucklestone, Ashley, Loggerheads and Whitmore. In 2011 it had a population of 6948. The Councillors for this ward since 3 May 2012 are Ashley Howells, David Loades and Tracey Peers. All three represent the Conservative Party on Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.

Keele services

Keele services is a motorway service station, between junctions 15 and 16 of the M6 motorway near Keele in England. Operated by Welcome Break, it was built in 1963 and was designed by Terence Verity of Verity Associates. The nearest towns are Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. Close by is Keele University and it is possible to walk and/or drive from the university grounds to the Service Station, and this has been a popular route for students. Both sides of the site have Welcome Break petrol stations, W H Smith and Starbucks. There are KFC and Burger King restaurants on the bridge over the motorway.

Hollywood Music Festival

The Hollywood Music Festival was held at Leycett in an area called Hollywood on the grounds of Ted Askey's Lower (pig) Farm at Finney Green, between Silverdale and Leycett, near Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England, on 23 and 24 May 1970. It was notable for the first performance of Grateful Dead in the UK and also for the performance of Jose Feliciano and Mungo Jerry, and featured such notable bands as Free, Ginger Baker's Air Force, Colosseum, Family, Black Sabbath and Traffic. The company responsible for the festival was Onista Ltd, who promptly went bankrupt unable to pay festival staff. Onista was an offshoot of Eliot Cohen's Red Bus company, with Ellis Elias and Elliot Cohen as the promoters. It was estimated to have been attended by an estimated 45,000.
