Oued Smar (métro d'Alger)

Oued Smar est une station de la ligne 1 du métro d'Alger actuellement en travaux et qui doit être mise en service à l'horizon 2026. La station est située près du rond point d'Oued Smar au cœur de la commune du même nom, au croisement de la zone industrielle de Oued Smar, le quartier résidentiel de Beaulieu et l'école nationale supérieure d'informatique.

1. Histoire

La station fait partie de l'extension B1 de la ligne 1 du métro d'Alger dont les travaux ont débuté en 2015. Le tunnelier qui creuse cette extension y a été introduit début 2020. Le chantier sert aussi d'atelier de fabrication des voussoirs du tunnel.

Elle disposera de deux sorties. Elle sera équipée d'un ascenseur pour personnes à mobilité réduite. Elle est prévue pour être un pôle d'échange avec un parking de 430 places ainsi qu'une station de bus et de taxis.

El Alia Cemetery

El Alia Cemetery (Arabic: مقبرة العالية, romanized: Maqbarat al-ʻĀlīyah) is a cemetery in the commune of Oued Smar, a suburb of Algiers, Algeria. It was established in 1928, following the donation of a 78 hectares (190 acres) plot of land by its owner Hamza El-Alia before his departure to Mecca.

University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene

The University of Science and Technology – Houari Boumediene (French: Université des sciences et de la technologie Houari-Boumediene, USTHB, Arabic: جامعة العلوم والتكنولوجيا هواري بومدين) is a university located in the town of Bab-Ezzouar 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Algiers, Algeria. The university was designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and was inaugurated in 1974. Courses offered include Computing, Pure and Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Civil Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Process Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. USTHB was the largest university in Algeria until 2013; it has over 20,000 students. The government's five-year plan aiming at raising the number of university students in Algeria from 1.2 million in 2010 to 2 million students in 2014 has led to the construction of new universities and faculties in almost every Algerian town; some universities are now larger than the USTHB in the number of enrolled students. USTHB collaborates with western universities. Agreements exist between the faculties and their counterpart in France, Quebec Canada and other countries for the purpose of training and research. A number of Arab and African students receive grants to study in the USTHB. The tutoring language in the university is the French language, except for the Geography curriculum that is provided in Arabic language.
