Cowpen
Cowpen is an area of Blyth, in the civil parish of Blyth in the county of Northumberland, England. It is just east of the A189 road. The Ward population taken at the 2011 census was 4,466. In the 12th century CE, its name was Cupum, possibly the dative plural of Old Norse kupa, "a cuplike depression or valley".

Cowpen was formerly a township in Horton parish, from 1866 Cowpen was a civil parish in its own right until it was abolished on 1 April 1920 to form Blyth. In 1911 the parish had a population of 21,295.

The Blyth Academy
The Blyth Academy is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in Blyth, Northumberland, England.
It was opened as Blyth Community College in 2000 following the amalgamation of Tynedale High School and Ridley High School. The school was built for 1450 students and has an estimated figure of around 1000 students, and is made up of years 7 through to 11; with two sixth form years. In 2008, the college changed its name to The Blyth School, Community College.
The school offers a range of subject choices, from history to childcare, to languages to electronics. The school has shown improved results in recent years, and was higher than some other schools in the Northumberland GCSE results league table for 2011 and 2012. It is expected to continue to improve as an academy.

Blyth Valley
Blyth Valley was a local government district with borough status in south-east Northumberland, England, bordering the North Sea and Tyne and Wear. The two principal towns were Blyth and Cramlington. Other population centres include Seaton Delaval, and Seaton Sluice.
The borough was formed on 1 April 1974 by the merger of the borough of Blyth, part of Seaton Valley urban district and part of the borough of Whitley Bay.
The district council was abolished as part of the 2009 structural changes to local government in England effective from 1 April 2009 with responsibilities being transferred to Northumberland County Council, a unitary authority.

The station serves the town of Blyth and village of Bebside, in Northumberland, England. It opened in October 2025 and replaces a station that previously served the settlements from 1850 to 1964.
