La Torre Monumental (Tour Monumentale) anciennement Torre de los Ingleses (Tour des Anglais) est un monument situé dans le quartier de Retiro, à Buenos Aires. Après la Guerre des Malouines en 1982, la Torre de los Ingleses fut rebaptisée Torre Monumental, bien que certains habitants continuent à utiliser son ancien nom. Située au milieu de la Plaza Fuerza Aérea Argentina (ex Plaza Británica), à côté de la rue San Martín et de l'Avenida del Libertador, elle fut construite par des résidents britanniques de la ville pour célébrer le centenaire de la révolution de mai. Le Congrès National accepta la donation par la loi N° 6368 du 18 septembre 1909, et les travaux commencèrent la même année. En raison de la mort d'Edouard VII, le 6 mai 1910, le Royaume-Uni de Grande-Bretagne et d'Irlande n'a pas envoyé de délégation à la célébration du Centenaire, ce qui fait que la pose de la première pierre n'a eu lieu que le 26 novembre. Le monument fut inauguré le 24 mai 1916. Le retard était dû, en premier lieu, à la Première Guerre mondiale, et d'autre part, au fait que la compagnie de gaz qui était installée sur la place n'abandonna le site qu'en 1912. La cérémonie a été suivie par le président Victorino de la Plaza et le représentant britannique Reginald Tower (en).

Torre Monumental

Torre Monumental (Spanish for "Monumental Tower"), formerly known as Torre de los Ingleses ("Tower of the English"), is a clock tower located in the barrio (district) of Retiro in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is situated in the Plaza Fuerza Aérea Argentina (formerly Plaza Británica) by Avenida San Martín and Avenida del Libertador. It was a gift from the local British community to the city in commemoration of the centennial of the May Revolution of 1810. After the Falklands War in 1982, the tower's original name was dropped, though some still call it Torre de los Ingleses.

Plaza Fuerza Aérea Argentina

Plaza Fuerza Aérea Argentina (Spanish for "Argentine Air Force Square") is a square located in the barrio (district) of Retiro in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The square is located between the Retiro railway station on Avenida Dr. José María Ramos Mejía, Avenida San Martín and Avenida del Libertador. It was designed and built in the 1940s and inaugurated on January 4, 1945. Originally called Plaza Británica ("British Square"), its name was changed in 1982 to the current one, by paying homage to the Argentine Air Force after the Falklands War, which was its first war against an external enemy. However, some still refer to it by its old name and also Plaza de los Ingleses ("English Square"), although the latter name was never used officially. The Torre Monumental (formerly "Torre de los Ingleses"), is located in the center of the square.

Retiro (Buenos Aires Underground)

Retiro is a terminus station on Lines C and E of the Buenos Aires Underground. The station is a part of the larger Retiro railway station which connects to the Mitre, San Martín and Belgrano railways, as well as their corresponding commuter rail lines. The station first opened on 6 February 1936 as part of the extension of Line C from Diagonal Norte; a second set of platforms for Line E opened on 3 June 2019 as part of that line's extension from Bolívar.

Retiro-Mitre, or simply Retiro, is one of the six large mainline railway station termini in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Located in the neighborhood of Retiro, it serves as terminal station for the Mitre Line that runs local trains to the northern suburbs of the Buenos Aires metropolitan area. It also functions as terminal station for the national General Mitre Railway, being one of Argentina's largest railway stations.. Retiro Mitre is accessible by the C line and Line E of the Buenos Aires Metro system and by numerous local public bus services. The station will also be accessible by Line H of the metro once its extension is complete. The station is also near Retiro bus station (Terminal de Omnibus), the principal long-distance bus terminal in Buenos Aires. In 2006, the station was declared National Historic Monument of Argentina.
