Hyde Road railway station

Hyde Road was a railway station in Gorton, Manchester, England, on the Fallowfield Loop Line. It opened in 1892 and closed in 1958, when local passenger services on the line were withdrawn. The station was sometimes advertised as Hyde Road for Belle Vue, given its close proximity to Belle Vue Zoo which was about one mile away. The line was closed completely in 1988 and the track was taken up. The station has long since been demolished and the site was partly redeveloped. The former trackbed is now a popular shared use path called the Fallowfield Loop. The station was named after Hyde Road, which begins at the east end of Ardwick Green South in Ardwick and runs east towards Hyde. At the boundary between Gorton and Denton, it continues as Manchester Road.

Debdale Park

Debdale Park is an inner-city park, located in the Gorton area of Manchester, England. At around 45 acres (18 ha), it is one of the largest inner-city parks in the City of Manchester. Located in the grounds of Debdale Park there is a members only bowling green, children's play area, multi-use games area (MUGA), skate park, tennis courts (free for use), football pitch, disused 9 hole pitch and putt, toilets and a visitor & community centre. Close to the park are two large reservoirs for licensed fishing and the neighbouring Debdale Outdoor Centre provides an exciting range of activities include dinghy sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking, along with indoor climbing, orienteering and team-building activities. In 2021, Debdale Nature Centre and Coffee in the Park were opened behind the offices in the north-west corner of the park. Debdale Park is also near to the eastern starting point of the Fallowfield Loop shared-use path, a rail trail managed by Sustrans. It follows the route of the former Fallowfield Loop railway line across south Manchester as far as St Werburgh's Road Metrolink station in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. The path is part of the UK National Cycle Network.

Peacock Mausoleum

The Peacock Mausoleum is a Victorian Gothic memorial to Richard Peacock (1820–1889), engineer and Liberal MP for Manchester, and to his son, Joseph Peacock. It is situated in the cemetery of Brookfield Unitarian Church in Gorton, Manchester. The mausoleum was designed by the prolific Manchester architect Thomas Worthington. It was listed Grade II* on the National Heritage List for England on 3 October 1974. Nikolaus Pevsner's The Buildings of England describes the memorial as "a large three-bay shrine of white stone. Steep roof and statues at the corners – an engineer, blacksmith, draughtsman and architect, supposedly a portrayal of Worthington himself." Peacock, a partner in the locomotive engineering firm of Beyer, Peacock & Company also paid for the construction of the Brookfield Unitarian Church.
