Rochor MRT station

Rochor MRT station (IPA: ROH-choh or ROH-chor) is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Downtown Line (DTL) in Rochor, Singapore. Located between Sungei Road and Rochor Canal Road, the station serves landmarks such as Sim Lim Square, the Lasalle College of the Arts (Lasalle) and Tekka Centre. The station is operated by SBS Transit. The station was first announced in July 2008 when the DTL Stage 2 (DTL2) were revealed. The construction of the station, which began in 2009, was one of the most challenging projects on the DTL, involving multiple realignments of the arterial roads and the Rochor Canal while being constructed in soft marine clay. The station, which opened on 27 December 2015 along with the DTL2 stations, was designed by Architects61, and features an Art-in-Transit artwork Tracing Memories by students of Lasalle.

Sim Lim Square

Sim Lim Square (from Min Nan 森林 (lit. "forest"), Pe̍h-ōe-jī: sim-lîm), known in Chinese as 森林商業中心 (Pinyin: Sēn Lín Shāngyè Zhōngxīn) and commonly referred to as SLS, is a large retail complex in Singapore that offers a wide variety of electronic goods and services including cameras, phones, video cameras, and computer parts and servicing. Located at 1 Rochor Canal Road, SLS is situated in central Singapore, near historic features such as the Little India district and one of the earliest HDB developments. SLS is accessible via MRT at Rochor MRT station of Downtown Line. After reports of several incidents of fraud faced by tourists, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and Vietnamese newspapers published a warning about purchasing electronics from Sim Lim Square and the dubious tactics of the shops there.

Lasalle College of the Arts

Lasalle College of the Arts, simply known as Lasalle, is a publicly-funded post-secondary arts institution in Singapore, and a constituent college of the University of the Arts Singapore (UAS) from 2024. Founded in 1984, Lasalle has eight art and design schools that offer more than 30 diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in contemporary arts and design education. The Abdul Gaffoor Mosque (Malay: Masjid Abdul Gaffoor, Tamil: மஸ்ஜித் அப்துல் கஃபூர், romanized: Masjit Aptul Kaḥpūr) is a mosque in Little India, Singapore. It is located at Dunlop Street in the Rochor Planning Area. The mosque was constructed in 1907, and major restoration of the building was completed in 2003. The mosque is currently owned by Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS). The mosque is also known by the following variant names: Abdul Gafoor Mosque, Abdul Gafor Mosque, Abdul Gaffor Mosque, Abdul Gaphore Mosque, Abdul Gapore Mosque, Dunlop Street Mosque and Indian Mosque.

The Great Madras

The Great Madras, formerly the Grand Madras Hotel, is a boutique hotel in Singapore. Initially a Singapore Improvement Trust block, it became the Grand Madras Hotel in 1990s.
