Toa Payoh MRT station

Toa Payoh MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the North–South Line (NSL) in Toa Payoh, Singapore. Located in the town centre of Toa Payoh, it is integrated with the Toa Payoh Bus Interchange and the HDB Hub, headquarters of the Housing and Development Board. The station is underneath the intersection of three roads: Lorong 1 Toa Payoh, Lorong 2 Toa Payoh and Lorong 6 Toa Payoh. First announced in May 1982, construction of the station began in 1983 as part of Phase I of the MRT system. In August 1985, it became the first Mass Rapid Transit station in Singapore to have its concrete structure completed. It opened on 7 November 1987 and was one of the first MRT stations to operate in revenue service. It has a bright yellow scheme with a set of coloured tiles at the concourse level.

Burmese Buddhist Temple (Singapore)

The Burmese Buddhist Temple (also known as Mahā Sāsanā Raṃsī; Burmese: မဟာသာသနာ့ရံသီ မြန်မာဘုရားကျောင်း; Chinese: 缅甸玉佛寺; pinyin: Miǎndiàn yùfósì) is the oldest Theravada institution and the only Burmese Buddhist temple of its kind in Singapore. Founded in 1875, the temple moved from its original Kinta Road premises to Tai Gin Road off Ah Hood Road in Novena in 1988. The temple houses the largest pure white marble statue of the Buddha outside Myanmar, and has become a religious landmark for Burmese and Singaporean devotees to make merit and take part in merit-sharing activities alike.

Toa Payoh Swimming Complex

The Toa Payoh Swimming Complex was a public swimming pool managed by Sport Singapore in Toa Payoh, Singapore. It was located at 301 Lorong 6 Toa Payoh. Together with the Toa Payoh Sports Hall, the Swimming Complex was one of many public swimming complexes operated by the Sport Singapore. The swimming complex itself consisted of five pools, of which three were meant for public use (a wading pool, a teaching pool and a training pool) while the other two in a separate section of the complex were used extensively for elite training by the national teams in the sports of water polo, synchronised swimming and diving. Toa Payoh Swimming Complex was within walking distance from Toa Payoh MRT station.
