Elvington (DVLR) railway station
Elvington railway station served the village of Elvington, North Yorkshire, England from 1913 to 1972 on the Derwent Valley Light Railway.
1. History
The station opened on 21 July 1913 on the Derwent Valley Light Railway. It closed to passengers on 1 September 1926 and to freight on 30 September 1972.

Yorkshire Air Museum
The Yorkshire Air Museum & Allied Air Forces Memorial is an aviation museum in Elvington, York, England, on the site of the former RAF Elvington airfield, a Second World War RAF Bomber Command station. The museum was founded, and first opened to the public, in the mid 1980s.
The museum is one of the largest independent air museums in Britain. It is also the only Allied Air Forces Memorial in Europe. The museum is an accredited museum under Arts Council accreditation scheme. It is a member of Friends of the Few (Battle of Britain Memorial), the Royal Aeronautical Society, the Museums Association and the Association of Independent Museums.
The museum is a registered charity (No. 516766) dedicated to the history of aviation and was also set up as a memorial to all allied air forces personnel, particularly those who served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War.

Elvington, North Yorkshire
Elvington is a village and civil parish in the City of York, lying approximately 7 miles (11 km) south-east of York, England, on the B1228 York-Howden road. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 1,212, it increased to 1,239 at the 2011 Census. The River Derwent forms part of the parish boundary and the historic Sutton Bridge connects Elvington with Sutton upon Derwent. The village has three separate large industrial estates including a site for Yara International, a Norwegian chemical company.
Elvington was historically in the East Riding of Yorkshire. However, it became part of the Selby District of the shire county of North Yorkshire between 1974 and 1996. Since 1996 it has been part of the City of York unitary authority.

Sutton Bridge, Yorkshire
Sutton Bridge is a historic bridge in Yorkshire, in England.
The bridge crosses the River Derwent, linking Elvington in the City of York with Sutton-upon-Derwent in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It forms part of the B1228 road. A bridge at the location was first recorded in 1396, and it may have replaced an earlier ferry.
The current bridge probably dates from the late 17th century. It is built of Magnesian Limestone, and has two arches. The central pier has pointed cutwaters. The parapet is built of three courses of stone, and there are pedestrian refuges on either side at the mid-point of the bridge. As implied, there is no proper pedestrian path on the bridge but the traffic lights do allow for a 5–10 second gap.
The bridge was Grade II* listed in 1986. In 2010, it was badly damaged by a lorry, which was never traced. It closed for a month for repairs, during which it was strengthened, and the width between the parapets was increased. In 2013, a ban on heavy goods vehicles using the bridge was considered in order to make it safer for pedestrians, but the plan was rejected, while various proposed safety measures were also rejected as unenforceable or unlikely to prove effective.
