Dronley railway station served the village of Dronley, Angus, Scotland from 1860 to 1955 on the Dundee and Newtyle Railway.
1. History
The station opened on 16 October 1860 by the Dundee and Newtyle Railway. The railway also passed through nearby Auchterhouse. There was a goods siding to the west. The station closed to both passengers and goods traffic on 10 January 1955.

Dundee West was a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post voting system.
The constituency was created for the 1950 general election, when the two-seat Dundee constituency was split into two single seat constituencies: Dundee East and Dundee West.
Further to the completion of the 2023 periodic review of Westminster constituencies, the seat was subject to boundary changes, gaining further parts of the Dundee City council area. As a consequence, it was renamed Dundee Central, and was first contested at the 2024 general election.

Backmuir Wood
Backmuir Wood is a 140.58 acres (56.89 ha) woodland in the Scottish county of Angus, about 4 kilometres (2 mi) northwest of Dundee. It is located south of the A923, between the villages of Muirhead and Liff. Since 1996, the woodland has been under the ownership of the Woodland Trust, which manages it in partnership with a local community group. The area of the wood has been extended since then, including the acquisition of a further 17 acres (7 hectares) in 2009. Backmuir Wood is a diverse woodland, which is home to a variety of different tree species. It also provides a habitat for the red squirrel, a protected species in the UK.

Auchterhouse
Auchterhouse (Scots pronunciation: [ˈɑːxtərhus]; Scottish Gaelic: Uachdaras) is a village, community, and civil parish in the Scottish council area of Angus, located 7.3 miles (11.7 km) north west of Dundee, 9.5 miles (15.3 km) south east of Alyth and 14.9 miles (24.0 km) south west of Forfar. It lies on the southern edge of the Sidlaw Hills, below Auchterhouse Hill, 1,398 feet (426 m) high. The parish, which is coterminous with the community, had a population of 520 in 2001. The village, formerly known as Milltown of Auchterhouse, straddles the B954 Muirhead to Newtyle road. About 1.0 mile (1.6 km) east lies the larger village of Kirkton of Auchterhouse, where the church and school are located.
Singer Billy MacKenzie lived in the village from 1991 until his death in 1997. Kirkton, in Auchterhouse, was the subject of the painting 'Sidlaw Village, Winter' by James MacIntosh Patrick.
