Linthwaite - Izeria

Linthwaite (known as Linfit in the local community) is a village in the Kirklees district, in West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is situated 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Huddersfield, on the A62 in the Colne Valley. The village together with Blackmoorfoot had a population of 3,835 according to the 2001 census. The River Colne, Huddersfield Narrow Canal, the Huddersfield to Manchester railway line and A62 main road all pass near to the village. After they were constructed, textile mills were then built to produce cloth making use of the river. This led to the growth of the village. Linthwaite Hall on Linfit Fold was built around 1600. Currently, it is a busy village with five pubs. Blackmoorfoot Reservoir, at the top of Gilroyd Lane, is a wintering site for migrating wildfowl and wading birds.

Colne Valley High School

Colne Valley High School is a comprehensive coeducational secondary school in the village of Linthwaite, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. It is named thus because it stands in the Colne Valley, one of several valleys that converge at the town of Huddersfield. It has approximately 1900 pupils, with forms from A to J. The school has years 7 to 11, and four main buildings: A block, B block, C block and D (music) block as well as the sports hall. The school converted to academy status in September 2014 and is sponsored by The Mirfield Free Grammar.

Golcar railway station

Golcar railway station is a former railway station serving Golcar in West Yorkshire, England that was located between the existing Huddersfield and Slaithwaite stations. Along with several other stations on this stretch of line, it was closed to passengers on 7 October 1968 – a result of the Beeching Axe. No trace of the station remains, though there have been calls to rebuild the station to serve the village and also neighbouring Milnsbridge.

Colne Valley

The Colne Valley is a steep sided valley on the east flank of the Pennine Hills in the English county of West Yorkshire. It takes its name from the River Colne which rises above the town of Marsden and flows eastward towards Huddersfield. The name is used to describe that section of the valley between its source and Huddersfield at the point where the River Holme joins the Colne. The name can describe the whole valley of the Colne, including the section through Huddersfield its confluence with the River Calder at Cooper Bridge. Using the more common definition, the Colne Valley includes the towns and villages of Marsden, Slaithwaite, Linthwaite, Milnsbridge, Scapegoat Hill, Longwood and Golcar.

Cowlersley

Cowlersley is a district 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. It is situated between Milnsbridge and Linthwaite and south of the A62 and the River Colne. The name Cowlersley means 'a charcoal burner's wood' and was first recorded in 1226. The district has a primary school, Woodside Green, which was inspected by Ofsted in 2022 and listed as "Good". Its main claim to fame is that the former British prime minister Harold Wilson grew up in Cowlersley, at 4 Warneford Road.
