Gare de Tourcoing est une station de la ligne 2 du métro de Lille, située à Tourcoing.

Comme son ancien nom l'indique, la station se trouve sous la place Sébastopol à Tourcoing.

1. = Origine du nom =

La station portait à l'origine le nom de Tourcoing - Sébastopol. Depuis le 6 mars 2017, elle se nomme Gare de Tourcoing en raison de sa proximité avec la gare ferroviaire située à 400 m. Ce changement de nom répond à une demande de clarté pour les voyageurs utilisant le service Ouigo de la SNCF, qui dessert la gare de Tourcoing.

La station est bâtie sur trois niveaux souterrains, bénéficiant de deux accès et d'un ascenseur en surface :

niveau -1 : vente et compostage des billets, niveau -2 : accès à la ligne 2, voies centrales et quais opposés

Par la gare de Tourcoing (située à environ 400 mètres), la station est desservie par des trains des réseaux TER Hauts-de-France, TGV inOui et Ouigo. Par ailleurs, elle est desservie par la Liane 4.

Verlaine Message Museum

The Verlaine Message Museum or Museum of 5 June 1944 is a historical museum founded in 1991 in Tourcoing, France, near Lille. It is named after the message sent by the BBC's Radio Londres at 9:15 pm on June 5, 1944 announcing the imminent invasion of Normandy. The museum is housed in the concrete bunker where the German Wehrmacht intercepted the message.

Tourcoing (French: [tuʁkwɛ̃] ; Dutch: Toerkonje [tuːrˈkɔɲə]; West Flemish: Terkoeje; Picard: Tourco) is a city in northern France on the Belgian border. It is designated municipally as a commune within the department of Nord. Located to the north-northeast of Lille, adjacent to Roubaix, Tourcoing is the chef-lieu of two cantons and the fourth largest city in the French region of Hauts-de-France ranked by population with about 97,000 inhabitants.
