Baildon

Baildon is a town and civil parish in the Bradford Metropolitan Borough in West Yorkshire, England and within the historic boundaries of the West Riding of Yorkshire. It lies 3 miles (5 km) north of Bradford city centre. The town forms a continuous urban area with Shipley and Bradford, and is part of the West Yorkshire Built-up Area. Other nearby suburbs include Shipley to the south and Saltaire to the west. As of the 2011 census, the Baildon ward had a population of 15,360.

Colne Valley Urban District

Colne Valley was an urban district in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England, between 1937 and 1974. It takes its name from the River Colne which rises above the town of Marsden and flows eastward towards Huddersfield. Colne Valley Urban District was formed on 1 April 1937 following the abolition of many of the urban districts and reallocation of land surrounding Huddersfield and comprised the following former urban district areas: 584 hectares (1,440 acres) of Golcar Urban District — population 7,875 404 hectares (1,000 acres) of Linthwaite Urban District — population 5,220 Marsden Urban District — 3,493 hectares (8,630 acres), population 5,723 Scammonden Urban District — 731 hectares (1,810 acres), population 394 Slaithwaite Urban District — 1,284 hectares (3,170 acres), population 5,183 Colne Valley UD was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972, becoming part of the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees on 1 April 1974. No successor parish was created for the area, but its boundaries remain reflected in a ward of the same name on Kirklees Council.

Baildon Urban District

Baildon was an urban district in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England, between 1894 and 1974. It was enlarged on 1 April 1937 by gaining part of Wharfedale Rural District; 225 acres of the parishes of Esholt and Hawksworth were transferred. Baildon Urban District was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972, becoming part of the City of Bradford Metropolitan District on 1 April 1974. A successor parish was created for the town, called Baildon Town Council.

Baildon railway station

Baildon railway station serves the town of Baildon near Shipley in West Yorkshire, England. The station reopened under British Rail on 5 January 1973, by the Chairman of Baildon Council, Arnold Lightowler, having been closed for exactly 20 years. It is situated 4 miles (6 km) north of Bradford Forster Square, on the Wharfedale Line. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by Northern Trains.

Idle railway station (Leeds and Bradford Railway)

Idle railway station was a short-lived station serving Idle, near Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. It was built by the Leeds and Bradford Railway in 1847, but it was closed the next year. It was located near the west entrance of the Thackley Tunnel. This station was very much closer to Thackley than to Idle. Later, in 1875 another Idle station was built, on the Great Northern Railway's Shipley Windhill Line.
