St Mary's Church, Crewe

St Mary's Church is in St Mary's Street, Crewe, Cheshire, England. It is an active Roman Catholic parish church in the diocese of Shrewsbury. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

The church was built between 1890 and 1891, the tower being completed at a later date. The architects were Pugin and Pugin.

St Mary's is constructed in red brick with red sandstone dressings, and a slate roof. Its architectural style is Decorated. The plan consists of a five-bay nave with a clerestory, north and south aisles, a chancel with an apse, and a southwest tower. The tower has angle buttresses, and a pyramidal roof with lucarnes. In the bottom stage are windows with Geometrical tracery, in the stage above are niches containing statues and flanked by lancet windows, and above these are paired lancets. The top stage contains louvred bell openings. The chancel and the gable of the nave contain windows with Geometrical tracery, the windows along the sides of the aisles have Perpendicular tracery, and the clerestory windows are paired quatrefoils.

Inside the church the arcades are carried on octagonal piers. The stone reredos has much gilding and is decorated with Gothic motifs. The baldacchino is supported by marble shafts. The main altar is flanked by side altars, and there are more altars at the east ends of the aisles. The organ dates from 1897 and was built by Gray and Davison.

Lyceum Theatre, Crewe

The Lyceum Theatre is an Edwardian theatre in Heath Street, Crewe, Cheshire, England. It originated as a converted Roman Catholic Church in 1876. The church was replaced in 1887 by a purpose-built theatre, which burnt down in 1910. The theatre was rebuilt the following year, and was refurbished in 1994. It continues in use as a theatre, as of 2022 it is managed by Trafalgar Theatres. The theatre is constructed in brick, and adjacent to it is a block containing the entrance and offices. Its interior contains decorated plasterwork.

Crewe bus station

Crewe bus station in Crewe, Cheshire East, England, is a bus terminus for approximately 11 bus services. It opened to the public on 7th May 2024 as part of the Royal Arcade development in Crewe town centre. The bus station is located on Delamere Street, with access also from Victoria Street. The bus station has 9 bus stands and 1 coach stand, although no scheduled coach services are currently planned for the bus station. In September 2021, planning permission was granted for the Royal Arcade development, with Phase 1 incorporating a 400 space multi-storey car park and 10 stand bus station. Following initial delays, in January 2023, the former bus station closed and a temporary bus station was placed, containing 8 stands, in the location near to the new bus station. Cheshire East Council revealed the external artwork design for the new bus station in February 2023, which was subsequently placed on the eastern elevation of the new bus station, overlooking the new bus stands with the words ‘Forged by Hand’ sitting atop the bold inclusion of the town's name.

Christ Church Tower, Crewe

Christ Church Tower is a Gothic Revival church tower in Prince Albert Street, Crewe, Cheshire, England. It was built in 1877 for Christ Church parish church, and retained when much of the church was demolished in 1977. Within the shell of the former church there is now a memorial garden. The tower has a ring of ten bells, all cast by Gillett & Johnston of Croydon in 1912. The tower is a Grade II listed building.
