General San Martín (métro de Buenos Aires)

General San Martín est une station de la ligne C du métro de Buenos Aires. Elle est située au croisement des rues Calle San Martín et Calle Maipú, sur la Plaza General San Martín du quartier de Retiro de la ville de Buenos Aires, capitale de l'Argentine.

1. Histoire

À l'origine, la ligne C avait un tracé légèrement différent, où les stations déjà construites de Retiro et Lavalle étaient unies par un tunnel comprenant une courbe très prononcée qui empêchait la construction d'une station. La compagnie constructrice demanda l'autorisation de changer le trajet de la ligne, ce qui fut accepté. Et la station General San Martín fut inaugurée le 17 août 1937. L'ancien tunnel resta en tant que voie de garage. En 1997, la station a été déclarée Monument Historique National par décret signé du président Carlos Menem.

General San Martín is a station on Line C of the Buenos Aires Underground. The station is close to the San Martín Plaza, Kavanagh Building and the Plaza Hotel. The station was opened on 17 August 1937 when the extension of the line from Diagonal Norte to Retiro has already been in operation.

The Instituto del Servicio Exterior de la Nación ("Foreign Service Institute of the Nation", ISEN), is the Argentine government's training institution for employees of the diplomatic service. It is dependent on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship. Its goals are to select and train Argentine diplomats and other employees of the diplomatic service so they may advance the Argentine foreign affairs agenda, as well as to produce knowledge on current international affairs. Since its foundation in 1963, it has served as the only institution for selecting and training diplomatic professionals in Argentina. ISEN graduates are granted "diplomatic state" for life, meaning they must follow the responsibilities laid out in Argentine diplomatic law even after retirement.

Villar Residence

The Villar Residence, mistakenly called Haedo for many years, is a 19th-century building in the Retiro neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is located on Avenida Santa Fe, to the southwest of the Torre Monumental and across the street from Plaza San Martín, in close proximity to the Plaza Hotel. It was built as a residence for colonel Reinaldo Villar (1830-1908), a wealthy landowner from Entre Ríos province, and his family.
