The name Micklefield derives from the Old English micelfeld meaning 'big field'.

Roman Road railway station (Yorkshire)
Roman Road railway station was a station on the Leeds and Selby Railway, near Micklefield, in West Yorkshire, England. The station was one of the shortest lived stations in the United Kingdom opening on 22 September 1834 and closing less than two months later on 10 November 1834.
The opening of the station coincided with the opening of the line but on 31 October 1834 the directors of the company "Ordered stopping places at Cross Gates and Roman Road be abandoned from 8th November next."
The fares from Roman Road to Selby were 2/-shillings, firstclass, and 1/- second class. Fares to Leeds were 6d dearer at 2/6 and 1/6 respectively.

Most of the parish area is used for agriculture. Soft fruit is grown here at an industrial scale. Population is concentrated in the northwest near the boundary with Garforth. The M1 motorway passes through the northern parts of the parish, the Leeds to Selby railway through the southern parts. Garforth Airfield is located north of the railway near the centre of the parish area. Sturton Grange is a constituent electoral ward of Aberford & District Parish Council

Huddleston with Newthorpe
Huddleston with Newthorpe is a civil parish in North Yorkshire, in England.
The parish includes the hamlet of Newthorpe alongside the B1222 road, a short section of the A1(M) motorway and Great North Road, and an area of countryside in which Huddleston Hall lies.
Huddleston is a rural locality to the north of the railway line from Micklefield to Church Fenton. Another line from Micklefield, which is across the county boundary in West Yorkshire, also passes through the parish, just south of Newthorpe, on its way to Selby.
The parish was created on 1 April 1937, when the parish of Newthorpe was merged with the parish of Huddleston cum Lumby. In 2015, the parish had an estimated population of 140 people.
Until 1974 it was part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the district of Selby, it is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council.
