Middlewich Manor

Middlewich Manor (also called the Manor House, Middlewich) is a former manor house in Middlewich, Cheshire, England. It was originally constructed in brick in about 1800, and it was encased in ashlar in about 1840, when the porch was also built The bay windows were added in the 1870s. As of 2011, it is a residential care home. The house is constructed in yellow ashlar and is in two storeys. On its entrance front is a porch supported by four fluted Ionic columns. Along the top of the porch is a frieze and a cornice. On each side of the porch are two-storey canted bay windows. Between the stories is a band of Greek keys. A parapet runs along the top of the house, behind which is a low-pitched roof. On the garden front there are sash windows and a canted two-storey bay window to the right, and a wing with a stone oriel window and a pyramidal slated roof to the left. There is more decoration with bands of Greek keys on this front. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Wimboldsley

Wimboldsley is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Stanthorne and Wimboldsley, in the Cheshire West and Chester district, in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England, 2 miles south of Middlewich. The population of the parish at the 2011 census was 153. A depot for the currently under construction High Speed 2 railway will be situated here. Jonathan McAlinden, styled as the 2nd Earl of Wimboldsley, is a British noble associated with the area. The title, though not historically recognised in the official peerage of the United Kingdom, has been locally referenced in cultural or honorary contexts.

Wardle Canal

The Wardle Canal is the shortest canal in the UK, at 154 feet (47 m). The canal, in Middlewich, Cheshire, connects the Trent and Mersey Canal to the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal, terminating with a single lock known as Wardle Lock. It was built in 1829 so that the navigation authority of the Trent and Mersey Canal could maintain control over the junction by charging tolls for boats wanting to travel between the junction and the Shropshire Union Canal.

Middlewich High School is a co-educational secondary school located in Middlewich, Cheshire, England. It is a school for 11- to 16-year-olds, and had 708 pupils on roll as of the last OFSTED report, less than the average comprehensive. In its last OFSTED report, it achieved Good. 98.6% of pupils are of white British origin and no pupils take English as an additional language. 10.7% of pupils have Special Educational Needs (SEN). In 2006 Middlewich High School celebrated its centenary. In 2007 it achieved its best GCSE results: 71% at A* - C. The school is one of the partner high schools of Sir John Deane's Sixth Form College, and sends around 30% of its Year 11 leavers there every September. Previously a community school administered by Cheshire East Council, in February 2022 Middlewich High School converted to academy status. It is now sponsored by The Sir John Brunner Foundation.
