Madrasah Alsagoff Al-Arabiah

Madrasah Alsagoff Al-Arabiah is one of the six full-time Madrasahs in Singapore recognised by Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS). It is known for its academic emphasis on its language and religious subjects. The architectural design of the school is partly influenced by the Dutch-Indies, and also reflects the local culture and climate. Alsagoff is recognised as one of Singapore's heritage schools.

1. History

Alsagoff was founded in accordance to the will of Syed Mohamed bin Syed Ahmad Alsagoff in 1912. It is therefore the oldest madrasah in Singapore.

Alsagoff was first established as an all-boys school. In the 1940s, Alsagoff began taking in female students as well, albeit in a separate school session, making it a co-ed school. When the number of male students started to decrease, Alsagoff stopped taking in boys, making it an all-girls school.

1. Curriculum

Alsagoff places great emphasis on the Arabic language. Arabic is the medium language in almost all religious subjects and students are encouraged to speak in Arabic during these lessons. It also offers other academic and language (English and Malay) subjects. Students can participate in various co-curricular activities catered for different levels.

Istana Kampong Glam

Istana Kampong Glam (Malay for "Kampong Glam Palace"; Jawi: ايستان کامڤوڠ ڬلم), also Istana Kampong Gelam, is a former Malay palace in Singapore. It is located near Masjid Sultan in Kampong Glam. The palace and compounds were refurbished into the Malay Heritage Centre in 2004. The palace was gazetted as a national monument on the eve of Singapore's Golden Jubilee, on 6 August 2015.

Warong Nasi Pariaman is an eatery along North Bridge Road and Kandahar Street in Singapore. The restaurant is believed to be the oldest surviving stall selling nasi padang in Singapore. The business announced on 22 January 2026 that it would close down at the end of that month.

Textile Centre

Textile Centre is a office-residential development in Kallang, Singapore. It is a 25-storey development occupying an area of 75,000 square feet. It houses shops, offices, residential apartments and a carpark. It was built for the purpose of resettling textile merchants affected by urban renewal in the 1970s.

Masjid Malabar

Masjid Malabar or Malabar Muslim Jama-Ath Mosque (Malay: Masjid Malabar, Arabic: مسجد مالابار), also known as Golden Dome Mosque; is Singapore's only Malabar Muslim mosque. The mosque is located at the junction of Victoria Street and Jalan Sultan in the Kampong Glam district, in the Rochor Planning Area within the Central Area. The mosque is built on the Sultan Mosque style with traditional blue and white lapis lazuli tile facade. The mosque was nicknamed as little cousin of the Sultan Mosque, because of similar golden domes.
