Alsager School

Alsager School (formerly known as Alsager Comprehensive School) is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in Alsager in the English county of Cheshire.

1. Location

Alsager School is situated opposite the former Manchester Metropolitan University Alsager campus (former Cheshire County Training College), which is now a housing estate, and next to both Christ Church, Alsager and Alsager Leisure Centre. It is attended by over 1300 pupils from the local area.

1. History

In September 2009 Alsager School became a Foundation School as it joined the Alsager Community Trust. In September 2011, Richard Middlebrook replaced David Black as Headteacher. The school converted to academy status in September 2013 and became part of the Alsager Multi Academy Trust (AMAT). As of Easter 2018, Weston Village Primary School became part of AMAT. In September 2020, Alsager Highfields Community Primary School joined AMAT.

1. Academic performance

The school gets results above the England average at GCSE and the eighth best in Cheshire. At A level it gets results above the England average. Following the February 2016 Ofsted inspection, it was rated Outstanding, point four on a four-point scale.

Alsager

Alsager ( AWL-say-jər) is a town and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East in Cheshire, England. It is located to the north-west of Stoke-on-Trent and east of Crewe. At the 2021 census, the parish had a population of 13,389 and the built up area population was 15,505. The civil parish is bordered by the parishes of Betchton to the north, Church Lawton to the north-east and east, Kidsgrove to the south-east, Audley Rural to the south, Barthomley to the south-west, Haslington to the west, and Hassall to the north-west. Alsager has hosted an annual summer carnival since 1998; it was located in Milton Park until June 2009 and moved temporarily to the Alsager School playing fields to increase capacity, before returning in 2017. In 2008, Alsager was awarded Fairtrade Town status by the Fairtrade Foundation.

Alsager Town Football Club is a football club, based in Alsager, Cheshire, England. The club are currently members of North West Counties League Division One South and play at Wood Park Stadium. Affiliated to the Cheshire County Football Association, they also operate a reserve team in the Staffordshire County Senior League and a youth team in the North West Youth Alliance.
