The Black Brook is a small river in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England.
The Black Brook rises near the border of Calderdale and Kirklees next to Scammonden Dam. It flows downwards through Stainland Dean, and then between Greetland and Stainland. Most of the river, at this point, forms a parish border between the parishes of Greetland and Stainland. The Holywell Brook flows into the Black Brook before flowing into the River Calder at West Vale. The combined length of the two brooks is 8.85 miles (14.24 km) and they drain an area of 12 square miles (30 km2). The valley that the Black Brook flows through is named the Blackburne Valley.

Scammonden
Scammonden or Dean Head was a village close to Huddersfield, in the Dean Head Valley, England, before the valley was flooded to create Scammonden Reservoir in the 1960s. The M62 motorway crosses the dam wall and then passes through a cutting to the west over which Scammonden Bridge carries the B6114. The Chapel of St Bartholomew still exists, as does the old vicarage, which is now home to Scammonden Sailing Club.

Outlane
Outlane is a village in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England, situated approximately 2.5 miles (4 km) south-west of Elland, 3.7 miles (6 km) north-west of Huddersfield and 4.5 miles (7 km) south of Halifax.
The village is situated next to the M62 motorway near Junction 23 and straddles the Kirklees and Calderdale borough boundary; while the bulk of the village is within Kirklees, the north-western part of the village is part of Calderdale and the Stainland & District civil parish. The A640 Huddersfield to Rochdale (New Hey Road) road passes through the village.
Outlane Cricket Club, who currently play in the Halifax Cricket League, objected to the building of the motorway in the 1960s as it would go through their ground. However the Ministry of Transport turned down the objection. Outlane has a golf course that borders the motorway.
Slack Lane is the location of Slack Roman fort, whose Roman name was possibly Cambodunum.
