Whitegate is an industrial and residential district of the town of Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. Lying along the course of the Rochdale Canal, Whitegate is located in the south of Chadderton, contiguous with the Nimble Nook, Butler Green, Coalshaw Green and Hollinwood areas of the town and New Moston in the City of Manchester which lies to the south. Whitegate is bisected from east to west by the M60 motorway with a junction (21) at the A663 (Broadway) which bisects the area from north to south, close to the Boat And Horses public house. A small recreation ground, Princess Park, serves the area. Its facilities include a multi purpose games area and children's playground. Oldham Broadway Business Park is located in this district, lying alongside the Rochdale Canal through the Slacks Valley between Whitegate and Middleton Junction.

Ace Mill, Hollinwood

Ace Mill is a cotton spinning mill in Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester. It was built as Gorse No. 2 Mill, in 1914 and cotton was first spun in 1919 by the Ace Mill Ltd, who renamed the mill. It was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the 1930s and passed to Courtaulds in 1964. Production ended in 1967. Although known as Ace Mill, Hollinwood (due to Hollinwood being the closest serving railway station), the mill is located in the Whitegate area of south Chadderton around a mile away from Hollinwood. The five-storey mill has a floor area of 38,500 sq ft (3,580 m2). It is now used as a warehouse. It was powered by a 2500 hp cross compound engine (Mary and Elizabeth) by Urmson and Thompson built in 1920. It had a 26 ft (7.9 m) flywheel with 42 ropes that ran at 64rpm.

South Chadderton School

South Chadderton School was a co-educational secondary school in Chadderton, Greater Manchester, England. The school catered for children aged 11–16. South Chadderton was a Full Service Extended School worked in close collaboration with the City Learning Centre and Whitegate End infant and primary schools, with which the school shared the campus. The school had access to a considerable range of resources for working parents and families to support learning beyond the school day. In 2007, staff went on strike after a teacher was suspended as part of an investigation into the publication of a diary detailing the bad behaviour of pupils. In 2012 South Chadderton amalgamated with Kaskenmoor School to become Oasis Academy Oldham. The school is now located in Hollinwood, and its former site was used by Collective Spirit Free School until its closure in July 2017.
