Anderton is a civil parish in the Borough of Chorley in Lancashire, England. It is now a suburb of Adlington, 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Bolton. Within its boundaries are the Rivington Reservoirs. Grimeford village is in the parish. In 2001, the parish had a population of 1,206, increasing to 1,316 at the 2011 census. The Rivington services on the M61 are at the south of the parish.

Adlington is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Chorley in Lancashire, England, near the West Pennine Moors. It is 3 miles (5 kilometres) south of Chorley. It became a separate parish in 1842 then grew into a township around the textile and coal mining industries until these closed in the 1960s. It had a population of 5,270 at the 2001 census, and risen to 6,010 at the 2011 census. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal runs through the village, where it holds White Bear Marina, the largest marina on the Canal.

It is a two-platform station on the Bolton - Chorley - Preston line, forming part of the Northern service link between Preston and Manchester via Bolton and Chorley. Until 1960, Adlington was also served by a station named White Bear (on the Lancashire Union Railway).

Rivington Water Treatment Works

Rivington Water Treatment Works is a water treatment plant in Rivington, Lancashire, England. It is located below the Lower Rivington Reservoir, the last in the Rivington chain of reservoirs. The first treatment works, a slow-sand filter plant on the site opened in 1860, supplying water to Liverpool. The present works was built in 1994, and in 2007 was the largest automated three-stage plant operated by United Utilities, the water is now disinfected by adding small amounts of chlorine. Most of its output supplies customers in the Wigan area. Raw water from the Rivington chain of reservoirs can be supplied to the Thirlmere Aqueduct via a pipeline downstream of the Lower Rivington Reservoir embankment and treated water via a pumping main and the Treated Water Pumping Station on the Rivington Water Treatment Works site. .

St Paul's Church, Adlington

St Paul's Church is in Railway Road, Adlington, Lancashire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Chorley, the archdeaconry of Blackburn, and the diocese of Blackburn. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It is registered as a parish of the Society under the patronage of St Wilfrid and St Hilda.
