Durham (Gilesgate) railway station
Durham (Gilesgate) railway station (when in passenger use known simply as Durham and later also as Durham Goods) served the Gilesgate area of Durham City in County Durham, North East England from 1844 to 1857 as the terminus of the Newcastle & Darlington Junction Railway Durham Branch passenger service (later to be incorporated into the Leamside line). Its life as a passenger station was short and it was quickly converted to goods station, a role which it played for more than a century.

Kepier power station
The Kepier power station was a cancelled coal-fired power station on the River Wear at Kepier, 0.75 miles (1.21 km) north east of Durham, County Durham, North East England. Planned by the North Eastern Electric Supply Company (NESCo) in 1944, it was never realised as the scheme faced stiff opposition from those who claimed it would obstruct views of the historic Durham Cathedral from the East Coast Main Line. A number of people supported the scheme as it would help meet the increasing demand for electricity and provide much needed jobs in the post-depression, post-war economy of Britain. The station, which had been designed by architect Giles Gilbert Scott, would have been operational by the late 1940s and would have generated 150 megawatts of electricity. However, following a public inquiry the plans were not approved and instead NESCo installed additional capacity at their existing power stations.

Collingwood College Boat Club
Collingwood College Boat Club (CCBC) is the rowing club of Collingwood College, part of Durham University.
CCBC was formed in 1981 and is housed in the Collingwood College boathouse on the north bank of the regatta stretch of the River Wear. The boathouse used to belong to St Hild's College, before it merged with Bede College to form College of St Hild and St Bede, Durham.
Collingwood has raced at Henley Royal Regatta four times and is a regular entrant to the Head of the River Race, Women's Head of the River Race and Durham Regatta.
CCBC is a registered Boat Club through British Rowing, with Boat Code "COC" and is a member organisation of Durham College Rowing.
The club is led by an executive committee elected by the boat club members.
