Newton Aycliffe

Newton Aycliffe is a town in County Durham, England. Founded in 1947 under the New Towns Act of 1946, the town is 5 miles (8.0 km) to the north of Darlington and 10 miles (16 km) to the south of Durham. It is the oldest new town in the north of England. Together with the bordering Aycliffe Village (to the south) and the north part of School Aycliffe (to the west), it forms the civil parish of Great Aycliffe. The population of the town at the time of the 2021 census was 26,415.

Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre

Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre is a multi-sport venue and leisure facility, located in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. The centre was opened in 1974 and has facilities for swimming, exercise, an indoor climbing wall, and a main sports hall for sports such as basketball, badminton and indoor football. The main hall is used as the home venue for British Basketball League team Durham Wildcats, who have been using the venue consistently since 2007 having previously been based in Spennymoor. The venue has a maximum capacity for 1,200 people, with bleacher-style seating on three sides of the court.

The station, situated 7 miles 4 chains (11.3 km) north-west of Darlington, serves the town of Newton Aycliffe in County Durham, England. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains.

Greenfield Academy

Greenfield Academy (formerly Greenfield Secondary School and then Greenfield Community College) is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located on the outskirts of Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, England. It was opened in 1974 and was visited by Tony Blair on 30 June 2000 when it was awarded specialist status as an Arts and Science College. Greenfield provides a range of opportunities in and out of the classroom. The strength of the provision was noted by OFSTED, who rated the school as Requires Improvement in May 2017 and again in September 2019. Previously a foundation school administered by Durham County Council, in September 2023 Greenfield Community College converted to academy status and was renamed Greenfield Academy. The school is now sponsored by the Advance Learning Partnership.

Newton Aycliffe Football Club is an English football club based in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. The club's ground is Moore Lane Sports Club, known as The Ashcourt Stadium for the 2024/25 season for sponsorship reasons. As of 2024, the club play in the highest level they have ever reached, the Northern Premier League Division One East.
