Saddle River Day School is a coeducational, college-preparatory independent day school, located in Saddle River, in Bergen County, New Jersey, serving students in Pre-K3 through twelfth grade. Its student body is drawn from communities in Bergen, Essex, Morris and Passaic counties in New Jersey and Rockland County in New York.

As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 3,372, an increase of 220 from the 2010 census count of 3,152, which in turn reflected a decline of 49 from the 3,201 counted in the 2000 census.

The Garret and Maria Ackerman House is located at 150 East Saddle River Road in the borough of Saddle River in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The historic frame house was built in 1824 and was documented as the Van Buskirk-Arkerman House by the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1937. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 29, 1986, for its significance in architecture. It was listed as part of the Saddle River Multiple Property Submission. Thomas Van Buskirk gave the house to his daughter Maria when she married Garret A. Ackerman in 1824.

The Ackerman–Smith House is located at 171 East Allendale Road in the borough of Saddle River in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The oldest part of this historic house was built around 1760. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 29, 1986, for its significance in architecture. From 1881 to 1901, it was the home of Alfred P. Smith, publisher of The Landscape. According to the nomination form, it was one of the earliest newspapers published in the state by an African-American.

The Achenbach House remains are located at 184 Chestnut Ridge Road in the borough of Saddle River in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The stone house was built around 1757 by Johan George Achenbach and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 18, 1979, for its significance in architecture. It was listed as part of the Early Stone Houses of Bergen County Multiple Property Submission and the Saddle River MPS.
The house was the home of Larry Blyden and Carol Haney in the 1960s. It was owned by travel pioneer Mario Perillo until his death in 2003, and subsequently passed on to a trust in his son Stephen Perillo's name, who is the present owner. It was largely destroyed by fire in 2004, though a portion of the original structure remains intact as a guest cottage.
It was listed as part of the Early Stone Houses of Bergen County Multiple Property Submission (MPS) and the Saddle River MPS. In 1797, Catherine Ackerman purchased 77 acres (31 hectares) of land to build a house for her son Abraham P. Ackerman. The one-and-a-half-story house was completed by 1802. A kitchen wing was added later. Their son, William Ackerman, lived here in 1861 and added the frame wing behind the kitchen. His son, Abraham W. Ackerman, built the mansard roof around 1875–1876.
