Leeds Central High School

Leeds Central High School (previously Leeds Central Higher Grade School) was the first local authority secondary school opened by the Leeds School Board, West Yorkshire, England, in 1885 using the school-room attached to Oxford Place Chapel. In 1889 the school moved to a new building (designed by architects Birchall and Kelly. Grade II listed) at the junction of Woodhouse Lane and Great George Street near the centre of Leeds. In 1972 the school was renamed "City of Leeds School" formerly "Leeds Central High School". It was an all boys school with a curriculum biased towards science and technology. Thoresby High School was a girls' school which occupied an adjacent building. In 1972 Leeds Central High School and Thoresby High School were merged to form the new City of Leeds School. This school moved to a new site in 1994 at Hyde Park, and the Woodhouse Lane building was adapted for use as Council offices The building is now for sale with planning application for a nightclub

K2 (building)

K2 is a residential tower block in Leeds, UK. The building is situated in the city centre, on Albion Street and Great George Street, opposite St John's Centre. The lower two floors contain commercial premises, including a Jongleurs Comedy Club, Bar Risa (a bar with a capacity of 1500) and formerly a Hard Rock Cafe. The building is the joint 9th tallest building in Leeds. The building has 20 stories and is 242 feet (74 m) tall. The commercial parts of the building are known as 'The Cube'. Ventura Outsourcing have 35,000 square feet (3,300 m2) of office space in the upper floors of 'The Cube'.

The Merrion Centre is a shopping centre located in the Arena Quarter area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Since opening in 1964, the centre has been owned and managed by Town Centre Securities. Originally open air, the centre had a roof installed during the 1970s.

Le Phonographique

Le Phonographique (often called the Phono) was a gothic nightclub located underneath the Merrion Centre in Leeds. Founded under the name the WigWam club, the venue's 1979 rebranding led to it becoming a location frequented by members of both the local post-punk and New Romantic scenes. Here, the two scenes collided and created the earliest phase of the goth subculture, becoming the first goth club in the world. Playing gothic rock and dark wave music, the club hosted DJs including Marc Almond and Anni Hogan, as well performances by bands including the Clash. The club experienced various owners during its runtime, having its name changed to Rio's between 1994 and 1995, and being known as Bar Phono from 1998 until its 2005 closure.

Leeds City Museum

Leeds City Museum, established in 1819, is a museum in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Since 2008 it has been housed in the former Mechanics' Institute built by Cuthbert Brodrick, in Cookridge Street (now Millennium Square). It is one of eight sites in the Leeds Museums & Galleries group. Special exhibitions are hosted alongside a collection of displays from the Leeds Archive.
