Seaton Valley Urban District

Seaton Valley was an urban district in Northumberland, England, from 1935 to 1974, at which point it was split between the districts of North Tyneside and Blyth Valley. It was created by a County Review Order in 1935 from various urban districts near the North Sea coast, particularly Cramlington, most of Earsdon, Seaton Delaval, and Seghill. Under the Local Government Act 1972 it was abolished on 1 April 1974, with the wards of Backworth, Earsdon and Shiremoor going to the borough of North Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, and the rest going to Blyth Valley in Northumberland. After the abolition of Blyth Valley district in 2008, a Seaton Valley parish was created. The boundaries of this parish are not identical to the old urban district - excluding Cramlington but including the part of the former borough of Whitley Bay to be included in Blyth Valley in 1974 (Hartley and Seaton Sluice).

Cramlington

Cramlington est une ville et une paroisse civile du comté de Northumberland, située à treize miles au nord de Newcastle upon Tyne dans la nord-est de l'Angleterre. Elle comptait 39 000 habitants en 2004. Son nom est tiré d'un mot danois, « ton », qui signifie « ville ». En ville, se trouvent un petit centre commercial ainsi qu'une gare à proximité. L'église principale de Cramlington s'appelle « Church of St. Nicholas » et se situe près du centre commercial. La ville est près des magasins et autres choses intéressantes dans Newcastle. Les trains circulent du sud, depuis Newcastle ou 'MetroCentre' (grand centre commercial situe à Gateshead), au nord, vers Morpeth et Chathill. Leur fréquence est faible et, du fait de l'absence de guichet à la gare, les billets sont à acheter dans le train.

Seaton Delaval Hall

Seaton Delaval Hall est une maison de campagne classée Grade I située dans le Northumberland, en Angleterre, près de la côte, juste au nord de Newcastle upon Tyne. Situé entre Seaton Sluice et Seaton Delaval, elle est conçue par Sir John Vanbrugh en 1718 pour l'amiral George Delaval. Il appartient maintenant au National Trust. Depuis l'achèvement de la maison en 1728, elle a une histoire malheureuse. Ni l'architecte ni le mécène n'ont vécu pour voir son achèvement. Elle passe ensuite par une succession d'héritiers, n'étant habité que par intermittence. Le plus dommageable de tous, en 1822, le bloc central est ravagé par un incendie et reste une coquille vide depuis. Les jardins du XVIIIe siècle de la maison sont classés Grade II * sur le registre des parcs et jardins historiques.
