Gosforth Urban District

Gosforth was a local government district in Northumberland from 1872 to 1974.

On 20 September 1872, a Local Board was formed for the civil parishes of South Gosforth and Coxlodge, known as the South Gosforth Local Board. Under the local Government Act 1894 South Gosforth became an urban district. A year later, by a Northumberland County Council order dated 14 March 1895, the title was changed to Gosforth Urban District. The council was based at the council offices in the High Street in Gosforth. On 15 July 1903, the Urban District Council applied for an order from Northumberland County Council to extend its boundaries to include the parishes of North Gosforth, East Brunton, West Brunton, Fawdon and the greater part of Kenton. On 9 September 1903, an inquiry was held into the Gosforth Scheme, but the proposal was refused. The parishes of Coxlodge and South Gosforth were amalgamated into the parish of Gosforth in 1908. Gosforth then extended its boundaries after the County of Northumberland Review Order 1935, to include part of Castle Ward Rural District. This comprised parts of East Brunton, Fawdon and North Gosforth civil parishes. In 1974, the urban district was abolished and its area was transferred to the new metropolitan county of Tyne and Wear under the Local Government Act 1972. Gosforth's area was combined with the County Borough of Newcastle, Newburn Urban District and parts of Castle Ward Rural District to form the present-day metropolitan borough of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Northern Rock

La Northern Rock (LSE: NRK) est une banque britannique basée à Regent Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne dans le nord de l'Angleterre. Anciennement connue sous le nom de la Northern Rock Building Society, la banque a été fondée en 1997 quand la société entra au London Stock Exchange, distribuant des actions à ses membres qui possédaient un compte sur livret et des biens hypothéqués. Northern Rock a rejoint la bourse en tant que banque mineure et on s'est attendu à ce qu'elle soit absorbée par un de ses plus grands rivaux, mais elle est restée indépendante. En 2000, la Northern Rock rejoignit le FTSE index.

Regent Centre

Regent Centre est un grand parc de bureaux situé à Gosforth, à Newcastle upon Tyne, en Angleterre. Le parc abrite diverses entreprises notamment la banque Virgin Money UK dont le siège social est situé sur le site. Le centre dispose de son propre échangeur avec une station du métro Tyne and Wear et une gare routière intégrée pour bus.

Métro Tyne & Wear

Le Tyne & Wear Metro est un système de transport en commun qui dessert l'agglomération de Newcastle-upon-Tyne, au Royaume-Uni. Ouvert en 1980, le réseau tire son nom des deux rivières qui coulent dans les environs : la Tyne et le Wear. Le réseau a été constitué grâce à la conversion de plusieurs lignes de train de banlieue, reliées entre elles par des tunnels sous le centre-ville ainsi qu'un nouveau viaduc sur la Tyne. Il totalise aujourd'hui 77,7 km de voies et 60 stations. Les rames sont au gabarit ferroviaire et alimentées par caténaires en 750 V CC. Le Tyne & Wear est un système hybride comportant à la fois les caractéristiques d'un métro avec un matériel à plancher haut et circulant partiellement en tunnel, et celles d'un tramway avec de nombreux passages à niveau. Certaines sections sont également partagées avec les trains nationaux. Il est généralement classé comme un métro léger.[1]

North Gosforth

North Gosforth est une banlieue de la ville de Newcastle upon Tyne, en Angleterre. Elle est située à quelques kilomètres du centre-ville, au nord du quartier de Gosforth (en). Administrativement, elle constitue une paroisse civile du comté métropolitain du Tyne and Wear.
