Westella & Willerby F.C.

Westella & Willerby Football Club is an established English football club based in Willerby, East Riding of Yorkshire. The Club’s U11 and above age groups play their home fixtures at Hilltop, Willerby, while the academy teams (U7–U10) are based at St Thomas More VC School. The Club currently operates 18 teams and supports over 250 registered players in its youth and academy structure. It has a 1 Star FA accreditation with the local East Riding FA. 1. Rob Brown Soccer School

The Rob Brown Soccer School was founded by Westella & Willerby AFC to honour the memory of Rob Brown — a much-loved player, volunteer, and committee member who we sadly lost to leukaemia in 2016. Rob gave so much to the club, from helping build our website and social media to supporting ground maintenance, and the club wanted to create something lasting in his name. Recognising a gap for children aged 4–6 taking their first steps in grassroots football, the Soccer School was launched on Saturday 5th April 2016 by Gaz Millett. The aim was simple: to give every child the chance to try football in a fun, welcoming environment, with the opportunity to progress into teams if they wished. Many of today’s Westella players began their journey right here. In 2018, the programme was recognised with the Hull Boys Sunday Football League Kath Dawson Award for Services to Mini Soccer 2017–2018, reflecting its positive impact on young players. The soccer school stands as Rob's legacy — a place that captures his love of football, his commitment to community, and his belief in giving others a chance. Hull City’s Curtis Davies, who formed a special bond with Rob and his family during his illness, proudly serves as Patron. The Rob Brown Soccer School ensures that Rob’s spirit, energy and kindness continue to inspire every young player who starts their footballing journey with us. Now, every Saturday morning at 9am, parents & guardians bring their children to Wolfreton School to begin their footballing journeys. The sessions are led by our superstar coach Mike Wright, who has been a dedicated part of the Soccer School since 2017.

1. Men's 1st team history

Westella & Willerby was formed in 1901, although the club's website indicates that teams were playing under the banner of Westella & Willerby in around 1910–11. They played in the East Riding County League for many decades and in 2000–01 they were founder members of the Humber Premier League and spent eight seasons in that league, their most successful campaign seeing the club finish as runners-up in the 2006–07 season. In 2008 they joined the Central Midlands League and immediately gained promotion from the Premier Division to the Supreme Division following a second-place finish. In 2011, the League was reorganised and the club was placed in the North Division, winning the League in the 2011–12 season but ground grading issues prevented the club from being promoted to the Northern Counties East League. For the 2012–13 season the club changed its name to Westella Hanson and also made its debut in the FA Vase, changing its name again, in 2014, to Westella VIP due to a sponsorship deal. The following year, after seven seasons in the Central Midlands League, the club was promoted to the Northern Counties East League. The club name reverted to Westella & Willerby for the 2016/17 season. The club was relegated from the Northern Counties East League after the 2017/18 season and re-joined the Humber Premier League.
