Disley railway station

Disley railway station serves the village of Disley in Cheshire, England. It is sited 12+1⁄3 miles (19.8 km) south-east of Manchester Piccadilly on the Buxton Line, built by the Stockport, Disley and Whaley Bridge Railway. The station is managed by Northern Trains, which also operates all trains serving it.

1. Facilities

The station has a staffed ticket office, though this is only open during morning peak periods (07:10–10:10). Tickets can also be bought prior to travel at the station's ticket machines and on-line. Train running information is available via telephone, automated announcements and CIS displays.

Waiting facilities are limited to shelters on each side; other buildings, including the former station house and signal box, have been demolished. Step-free access to both platforms is available via ramps and sloping paths from Buxton Road West.

There is generally one train per hour between Manchester Piccadilly and Buxton, via Stockport; trains run every two hours each way on Sundays.

1. Friends of Disley station

Disley station has been the subject of a station improvement campaign backed by Disley Parish Council and the local community. They have improved the bank on the New Mills Newtown side of the station with additions such as new plant pots, a new garden, and a new Running in board. They have received the 2021 'Cheshire's best kept station' 'Best Kept Garden' award for their efforts.

Lyme Park

Lyme Park est un grand domaine de 700 hectares, situé non loin de Manchester et au sud de Disley, dans le Cheshire, en Angleterre. Acquis par sir Thomas Danyers in 1346, il passa aux Legh de Lyme par mariage en 1388. Le domaine a été cédé au National Trust en 1946 par le 3e baron Newton (en) (1888 - 1960). Il comprend une vaste country house entourée de jardins classiques (formal gardens), au milieu d'un parc abritant diverses espèces de cervidés, dans le Peak District. La résidence elle-même est la plus grande du Cheshire depuis qu'Eaton Hall fut démoli en 1961 . Les bâtiments actuels datent de la fin du XVIe siècle mais ont été modifiés vers 1720. L'intérieur a été rénové en 1815 et les jardins créés à la fin du XIXe siècle. C'est un monument classé « Grade I » ((en) listed building ; (fr) édifice d'un intérêt exceptionnel) par l'English Heritage. Sa bibliothèque contient un incunable exceptionnel, le missel de Caxton.

Spotland Stadium

Spotland Stadium connu également sous le nom Crown Oil Arena pour des raisons de sponsoring, est un stade de football et de rugby à XIII situé à Rochdale. C'est le stade de l'équipe de football de Rochdale AFC et du club de rugby des Rochdale Hornets. Sa capacité actuelle est de 10 249 places. Cette enceinte sportive a été inaugurée en 1878.
