Kenton, Newcastle upon Tyne

Kenton is a suburb and electoral ward in the north west of Newcastle upon Tyne, in the county of Tyne and Wear, England. It borders the Town Moor and Gosforth. Kenton also has close road links to Newcastle Airport. The ward population at the 2011 Census was 11,605. The area borders Kingston Park, notable for the Kingston Park shopping centre, as well as Kenton School, one of the largest schools in the UK with approximately 2000 students. The nearest Tyne and Wear Metro station is Fawdon, with stations at Kingston Park and Bank Foot the other side of the A1 Western bypass. Nearby places include Fawdon and Cowgate.

North Kenton

North Kenton is a suburban housing estate in the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, in Tyne and Wear, England, located north west of the city centre and to the east of Kingston Park. North Kenton is a well known area in Newcastle, known to have a strong community spirit. Once a month, the local tenants and residents group known as North Kenton Tenants and Residents Association, work all year round to create events for the whole community. In August every year they plan the annual Family Fun Day with help funding from local business and Newcastle City Council. In 2016 North Kenton Tenants and Residents Association launched their website The area includes a refurbished park, and a sports centre. Buses operate to West Denton, Newcastle General Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne and the MetroCentre in Gateshead. Primary education is provided at Mountfield School and St Cuthberts Primary School; Kenton School is the local high school.

Kenton School is an Academy located in Newcastle upon Tyne, in Tyne and Wear, England. It is near Kenton Lane in Kenton and provides education for students in Key Stage 3 – 5, specifically Years 7 – 11. Kenton School is a specialist Arts and Technology School and has achieved a Gold Artsmark from the Arts Council of England and a Sportsmark. The school's sixth form building is used by both sixth formers and students attending the main academy, as well as serving as a local community college known as Kenton College. In a 2012 Ofsted report, the school was rated as Good, a decline from its previous Outstanding status obtained in 2009. The school was later rated as requires improvement in 3 separate reports by Ofsted in 2016, 2019 and 2022.
