L’abbaye de Honcourt (en allemand : Hugshofen est située près du village de Saint-Martin (Bas-Rhin) fut fondée en l'an 1000 par le comte Werner d'Ortenbourg, descendant de la famille des Etichonides et de la famille des Eberhard sous le règne de l'empereur Otton III du Saint-Empire (983-1002) et sous l'épiscopat d'Alewic comme l'atteste un diplôme de Frédéric Barberousse.
