West Hartlepool
West Hartlepool was a predecessor of Hartlepool, County Durham, England. It developed in the Victorian era and took the name from its western position in the parish of what is now known as the Headland.
The former town was originally formed in 1848 as an accompanying settlement for nearby railway and docks, which brought and exported coal from the area. The rail network grew, connecting to docks in Leeds and other cities. Further developments in the area led to the 1960s formation of Hartlepool as a town.

Murder of Angela Wrightson
On the night of 8–9 December 2014, 39-year-old Angela Wrightson was beaten to death in her home in Hartlepool, County Durham, England. She was attacked over the course of seven hours by two teenage girls using various household objects. The first trial began in 2015, but was suspended after information about the defendants was circulated on social media. The following year, after a second trial, both girls were found guilty and subsequently given minimum prison terms of 15 years.

St Joseph's Church is a Roman Catholic Parish church in Hartlepool, County Durham, England. It was built from 1893 to 1895 and designed by Edward Joseph Hansom, Archibald Matthias Dunn and W. Ellison Fenwicke in the Gothic Revival style. It is located on the corner of Hutton Avenue and St Paul's Road close to the centre of Hartlepool. It is a Grade II listed building. It is also close to an Anglican Church called St Paul's Church.
