Liège Province is the only Belgian province that has borders with three countries. It borders the Dutch province of Limburg, the German states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate, the Luxembourgish canton of Clervaux, the Belgian Walloon provinces of Luxembourg, Namur and Walloon Brabant and the Belgian Flemish provinces of Flemish Brabant and Limburg.
Part of the eastern-most area of the province, bordering Germany, is the German-speaking region of Eupen-Malmedy, which became part of Belgium in the aftermath of World War I.
The capital and the largest city of the province is the city of the same name, Liège. The province has an area of 3,857 km2, and a population of 1.12 million as of January 2024.

The Collège Saint-Servais is a Catholic school in Liège, Belgium. Founded in 1838, it revived the educational tradition of the suppressed Collège en Isle. When it became co-educational in 1992, it was renamed the Collège Saint-Benoît Saint-Servais. The pedagogy of the collège is Jesuit, as based on their Ratio studiorum; most of the teachers are now lay-people.

On 29 May 2018, Benjamin Herman, a prisoner on temporary leave from prison, stabbed two female police officers, took their guns, shot and killed them and a civilian in Liège, Belgium. The gunman took a woman hostage before he was killed by police. The attacker had since 2017 been suspected of having been radicalised in prison after converting to Islam, and was reported to be part of the entourage of a prison Islamist recruiter. The method of the attack was said by investigators to match and be specifically encouraged by the Islamic State which claimed the attack. Prosecutors say they are treating the attacks as "terrorist murder". The attack is treated as "jihadist terrorism" by Europol.

Mont Cornillon Abbey was a Premonstratensian monastery which occupied a site in Wallonia close to Liège, Belgium. In 1288 the abbey having moved to a new location, it became known as Beaurepart Abbey. It was the home of Saint Juliana of Liège.

The Royal Conservatory of Liège is a historic conservatory in Liège, Belgium. It is one of four conservatories in the French Community of Belgium that offers higher education courses in music and theatre.
Located at 29 Piercot Forgeur, the school's principal building was built in 1887 using a neoclassical design by architects Louis Boonen and Laurent Demany. Inside the building is a large concert hall, the Salle philharmonique de Liège, which has recently been entirely renovated. The hall is the major performance venue for the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège.
