The American University of Puerto Rico was a private university in Puerto Rico with campuses in Bayamón and Manatí. The university was founded in 1963 as the American Business College and offered undergraduate studies in arts, business administration, education, and sciences, and graduate studies in criminal justice.
AUPR was accredited by the Council of Higher Education of Puerto Rico and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Its founder, Juan B. Nazario Negrón, presided over the university for 48 years and died in 2011.
On May 1, 2023, the university announced that it would not offer any classes after the summer 2023 session. It ceased operations in December 2023.

The Bayamón Central University—or Universidad Central de Bayamón in Spanish—is a private, Catholic university in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. Its predecessor began in 1961 by the Dominican Order as a community college of the Catholic University of Puerto Rico. Universidad Católica de Bayamón was incorporated in 1964.
The university became autonomous on September 1, 1970, and is currently accredited by the Council of Higher Education of Puerto Rico, the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and by the Congregation for Catholic Education.
In October 1982 a multi-use sports complex inaugurated and was dedicated in honor of Rafael Pont Flores and it bears his name.
In October 2019, US federal funds were earmarked for the university.
The school was merged with the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico in 2025.

It encompasses 108.2 acres of land, and at the end of 2005, had 44,722 interments. Until 2021, it was the only United States National Cemetery in Puerto Rico. A second United States National Cemetery was built in Morovis, Puerto Rico because the cemetery in Bayamón has reached its capacity.

Colegio De La Salle is a Lasallian educational institution located in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. It is the only De La Salle institution open on the island. The other was located in Añasco but it is now closed. Established at the Riverview suburb in Bayamón, Puerto Rico on August 15, 1962, the institution has been in service for over 50 years. Initially, the institution merely offered middle-through-high school education, but has since expanded to a K-12 curriculum.
History
Hato Tejas was in Spain's gazetteers until Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the population of Hato Tejas barrio was 1,358.
