Richmond is a rural village within the amalgamated City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1818, it spans the Jock River, a tributary of the Rideau River. A part of the National Capital Region, Richmond is located 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) southwest of Kanata and immediately south to the community of Stittsville.

South Carleton High School is a high school situated in the southwestern sector of the city of Ottawa, in the town of Richmond, Ontario. The school is under the jurisdiction of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. The SCHS attendance boundaries cover a major section of the southern part of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. Students come from all over the southwestern sector of the city but mainly from the communities of Stittsville, Manotick, Richmond, Riverside South, North Gower, Munster, Kars, Fallowfield, Ashton, Burritts Rapids and the area connecting these communities. SCHS feeder schools include Goulbourn Middle School, Kars on the Rideau Public School, and A. Lorne Cassidy Elementary School.
The school opened in 1952 to 263 students and 13 teachers under the leadership of its first principal, W.W. Powell.
South Carleton's 60th anniversary was celebrated in 2012.

Twin Elm Rugby Park is a sports venue in South Nepean, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
The park is a non for profit sports venue that was incorporated in 1973. It is owned by 4 rugby clubs and is operated by volunteers.
With five rugby fields and 12 changing rooms, two lounges, a bar and spectator seating for approxiately 3,000 people it can accommodate several concurrent matches and serves as the home of several local clubs. The Eastern Ontario Selects play their home games at the venue, and also hosts a number of national and international games. In addition to rugby, the park is also home to other sports such as soccer, lacrosse, ultimate Frisbee and volleyball.

Goulbourn Township, Ontario, was formed in 1818, roughly 20 km southwest of downtown Ottawa, with the first major settlement occurring in Richmond. Other communities in the township include Stittsville, Munster, and Ashton. Stittsville is the largest community in the township, owing in part to its proximity to Kanata and the Queensway. The township was amalgamated into the current City of Ottawa in 2001.

Three quarters of the population live in Stittsville. Richmond has a population of 4,833 and the remaining 5,145 live in rural parts of the Township.
Goulbourn took its name from Henry Goulburn, Undersecretary of State for War and the Colonies from 1812 to 1826.

The Dalhousie District was a historic district in Upper Canada which existed until 1849. It was created in 1838 from Carleton County in the Bathurst District. Townships from the Johnstown and Ottawa districts were added to Carleton County at the same time.
The district town was Bytown, later Ottawa.
In 1849, the district was replaced by Carleton County.
