Bailey-Bunn House

The Bailey-Bunn House is a historic Georgian Revival house in the Blount Street Historic District of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. It serves as the state headquarters for the North Carolina Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The house is located between the Lieutenant Governor's Mansion and the Governor's Mansion.

Bailey-Tucker House

The Bailey-Tucker House is a historic mansion in the Blount Street Historic District of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. North Carolina First Lady Carolyn Hunt established the house as the state's official guest residence during her husband's term as governor. Notable guests at the house included U.S. Vice President Al Gore; Anne, Princess Royal; Dipendra, Crown Prince of Nepal; and Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Perez. The state government sold the house in 2016 and it has since been used as a law office.

Heck-Andrews House

The Heck-Andrews House was finished in 1870 and was one of the first houses in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina to be constructed after the American Civil War. It is located at 309 North Blount Street. It was created by G.S.H. Appleget for Mrs. Mattie Heck, the wife of Colonel Jonathan McGee Heck. It is on the National Register of Raleigh Historic Property. The house has a dramatic central tower capped with a convex mansard roof with a balustrade. The central part of the 2+1⁄2-story, Second Empire style frame dwelling is enclosed with a concave mansard roof with patterned slate. The house was owned by the Heck family until 1916 and was sold to A.B. Andrews. In 1948, Andrews heir sold the house to Julia Russell. The North Carolina government bought the house in 1987 planning to refurbish the structure. The exterior refurbishment was completed, however the State sold the house to the North Carolina Association of Realtors in January 2016 who plan on using it as an office building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Andrews-Duncan House

The Andrews-Duncan House is a historic house located at 407 North Blount Street in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. Built in 1874 for a prominent businessman, the Italianate style home was designed by architect George S. H. Appleget. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 and is currently owned by the state government. A large tree named after a presidential candidate once stood behind the house and is commemorated with a historical marker.

North Carolina Executive Mansion

The North Carolina Executive Mansion is the official residence of the governor of North Carolina and their family. The First Lady of North Carolina is the mansion's official hostess. Building began in the year 1883 and it was designed by architects Samuel Sloan and A.G. Bauer. The first occupants, Governor Daniel G. Fowle and his daughter, Helen Whitaker Fowle, moved into the unfinished building in January 1891. It is located within the Blount Street Historic District and is an example of Queen Anne style architecture.

North Carolina Freedom Park

North Carolina Freedom Park in Raleigh, North Carolina is a park on Lane Street downtown between the Executive Mansion and the Legislative Building. Designed by Phil Freelon and the firm Perkins + Will, who helped design the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture, It opened August 23, 2023. The Park was Constructed by Holt Brothers Construction of Raleigh, North Carolina which was founded by Torry Holt and Terrence Holt. The park includes the North Carolina Victim Assistance Network’s Crime Victims’ Memorial Garden, which was already in the location. The total project cost of $5 million was funded partly from a Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant of $1.9 million.

History

The house was constructed at 302 North Blount Street in the early twentieth century. It was completed in 1922. The two story home was built with brick and designed in the Georgian Revival style. It was built in the side yard of the Hawkins-Hartness House for Mrs. Hawkins's niece, Martha Hawkins Bailey. The house is also around the corner from the Bailey-Tucker House, the state's former official guest house. It is located in the North Blount Street Historic District, next door to the Offices of the Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina and across the street from the North Carolina Executive Mansion. The house serves as the state headquarters for the North Carolina Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. When the Confederate monument Silent Sam was removed from the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019, one of the suggested locations for its relocation was the Bailey-Bunn House.
