Pennine Radio Limited

Pennine Radio Limited is a UK manufacturer of electronic equipment, transformers and inductors, ride on electric golf carts, sheet metalwork and computer equipment. Founded in 1958 the company started off producing radio receivers and adapters to enable the new band III ITV television broadcasts. However they soon expanded into industrial electronics. In the early days, they produced many innovative designs for the woollen industry which surrounded Huddersfield.

Pennine Radio's Headquarters are in a Victorian grade 2 listed building on Fitzwilliam Street Huddersfield. The company currently manufactures golf carts, transformers, and offers contract printed circuit board, electronics assembly, and sheet-metal fabrication. The company is wholly owned by one family.

Huddersfield factory fire

The Huddersfield factory fire occurred on 31 October 1941 in the town of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England, inside the H Booth & Son factory. The fire was caused by a smoker's pipe left alight inside a raincoat pocket when work had just commenced. It destroyed the building and killed 49, most of them women and young girls. Many were left trapped in the upper floors of the five storey building as it did not have a fire escape. In November 2012, a memorial was unveiled on the site to commemorate 71 years since the disaster.

George Hotel, Huddersfield

The George Hotel in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England, is a Grade II* listed building, designed by William Wallen, with an Italianate façade. It was built in 1848–50. The hotel is famous as the birthplace of rugby league football in 1895. Memorabilia recalling the meeting can be found throughout the hotel as well as in the Heritage Centre.

St Patrick's Church, Huddersfield

St Patrick's Church is a Roman Catholic church in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. It serves the Parish of the Holy Redeemer in the Deanery of Huddersfield, in the Diocese of Leeds. Built in 1832 for use as a parish church, it was designed by Joseph Kaye, an architect from Bradford. It is situated on the junction between New North Road and Castlegate in the centre of the town. It is a Grade II listed building.

It is a stop on the Huddersfield line and is managed by TransPennine Express, which provides trains between the North West, Yorkshire and the North East. It is also served by Northern Trains, which operates trains on the Huddersfield, Penistone and Caldervale lines.
