Brownstown Charter Township is a charter township in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. Its population was 33,194 at the 2020 census. Brownstown was established in 1827, a decade prior to Michigan's admission to the Union.
Brownstown has three separate but connected segments due to the incorporation of the cities of Flat Rock, Rockwood, and Woodhaven in the early 1960s.

The Flat Rock Assembly Plant is a Ford Motor Company automobile assembly plant located at 1 International Drive in Flat Rock, Michigan, within Metro Detroit. The facility covers 2,900,000 square feet of production space and employs approximately 3,510 hourly workers and 140 salaried workers. It currently manufactures the Ford Mustang.
The plant was originally built by Ford as the Michigan Casting Center in 1972, but it closed in 1981. In 1987, Mazda took over the site and established its first U.S. manufacturing facility, Mazda Motor Manufacturing USA . In 1992, Ford purchased a stake in the plant, and it was reorganized as the joint venture AutoAlliance International. Mazda ended production there in 2012, after which the facility returned to full Ford ownership.

Detroit Dragway was a quarter mile long drag strip located in Brownstown Charter Township, Michigan on the corner of Sibley and Dix. It opened in 1959 by Gil Kohn and the track became sanctioned by the National Hot Rod Association in 1959. The "Dirty D" as it was also known was the host of the 1959 and 1960 NHRA U.S. Nationals.
