Loudoun Castle

Loudoun Castle is a ruined country house nicknamed the "Windsor of Scotland" located near Galston, in the Loudoun area of Ayrshire, Scotland. The majority of the building was constructed from 1804 to 1811 around existing structures dating to the 15th and 17th centuries. The building was destroyed by fire in 1942 and never rebuilt, while the rest of the property was converted into the Loudoun Castle theme park in 1995, which closed in 2010. The ruins are protected as a category A listed building.

Loudoun Castle was a theme park set around the ruins of the 19th century Loudoun Castle near Galston, in the Loudoun area of Ayrshire, Scotland. The park opened in 1995, and closed at the end of the 2010 season. The park's mascot was Rory the Lion.

Twist n' Shout

Big Blue is a steel looping roller coaster, located at Dalmaland, Croatia, and operating there since 2017. It was formerly located at Loudoun Castle Theme Park in Galston, south-west Scotland, where it was known as Twist n'Shout; operating from 2003 to 2010. Additionally, the ride was at Camelot Theme Park from 1989 to 2000, and then at Dreamland Margate from 2001 to 2002, both of whom rented it from Loudoun Castle's owner.

Loudoun Academy, Galston

Loudoun Academy is a secondary school in the outskirts of Galston, East Ayrshire, in Scotland serving the Loudoun district which includes the Irvine Valley, Kilmarnock, and surrounding rural areas of East Ayrshire. The school was built in 1971. The current enrolment as of July 2022 was 926. In 2022, Loudoun Academy was ranked as the 201st best performing state school in Scotland, an increase from its 2021 ranking where it was placed at 216th. In 2025, it was revealed that Loudoun Academy was one of four schools in Ayrshire that hadn’t been inspected since 2009.

Galston, East Ayrshire

Galston (Lowland Scots: Gauston, Scottish Gaelic: Baile nan Gall) is a town in East Ayrshire, Scotland, which has a population of 4,710 (2022) and is at the heart of the civil parish of the same name. It is situated in wooded countryside four miles (six kilometres) upriver from Kilmarnock and is one a group of the small towns located in the Irvine Valley between the towns of Hurlford and Newmilns. To the north of the town is the ruin of Loudoun Castle, the site of Loudoun Castle theme park from 1995 to 2010. In 1874 the population was 4,727.
