Mount Pleasant, Sheffield

Mount Pleasant is an 18th-century mansion situated on Sharrow Lane in the Highfield area of the City of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England. The house stands just under two km south of the city centre and is a grade II* listed building, it has been described as "one of the best 18th century houses in Sheffield". The adjacent former stables and coach house are also Grade II* listed.

Highfield (stadium)

Highfield is a former home ground of The Wednesday Football Club and was located on London Road near to the centre of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The club started to use the ground when they formed in 1867 and continued to use the ground until moving to Myrtle Road in 1870. The ground was a field that was part of a recreational ground that was at the time called the Orphanage, having just changed their name from the Cremorne Gardens (named after the gardens in London and after which The Cremorne public house was named). Charles Blondin, the high wire artist, was reported to have performed in the gardens. They also provided the home ground for Mackenzie F.C. during the 1867 Youdan Cup. The site is now thought to be occupied by the Highfield library.

Highfield Cocoa and Coffee House

The Highfield Cocoa and Coffee House is a building in Sheffield, England. It was built in 1877 by Frederick Thorpe Mappin, a local businessman, and was intended to provide non-alcoholic entertainment to the working classes. It featured a coffee, tea and cocoa bar, a library, billiards room and skittle alley. The Cocoa and Coffee House closed in 1908 and the building was used to house a confectioner's shop. In the 1950s the structure was acquired by the shopfitters George Barlow & Sons and used as a showroom. The firm installed seven Modernist concrete friezes to the façade in 1967. The firm, which had since become Keetons Property, sought to demolish the building in 2022 to construct a block of flats. The demolition was objected to by Hallamshire Historic Buildings (HHB) and the Victorian Society.

Portland Works

Portland Works is a former cutlery works in the Highfield area of Sheffield in England. Built in 1877, it is now a Grade II* listed building and one of the last remaining working examples of a purpose built metal trades factory. In early 2013, it was bought by nearly five hundred people, through one of the country's largest community share issues. Today Portland Works operates a collection of workspaces for traditional and modern craftspeople and is home to more than 30 small businesses.
