Hillhead

Hillhead (Scots: Hullheid, Scottish Gaelic: Ceann a' Chnuic) is an area of Glasgow, Scotland. Situated north of Kelvingrove Park and to the south of the River Kelvin, Hillhead is at the heart of Glasgow's fashionable West End, with Byres Road forming the western border of the area, the other boundaries being Dumbarton Road to the south and the River Kelvin to the east and north.

Glasgow University Union

Glasgow University Union (GUU) is one of the largest and oldest students' unions in the UK, serving students and alumni of the University of Glasgow since 1885. The GUU organises social affairs for its members, provides catering and entertainment. Students are eligible to become members for free at any point throughout their university career and alumni may become Life Members by applying to the Board of Management.

Wellington Church

Wellington Church is home to and owned by the congregation of Glasgow: Kelvin West Parish Church of Scotland, a congregation resulting from a union between the congregations of the former Wellington Church of Scotland and Kelvinbridge Parish Church of Scotland. The new congregation serves large parts of the Westend area of Glasgow, Scotland. The parish includes parts of Hillhead, Woodlands, Kelvinbridge and Maryhill. The building is located on University Avenue, Glasgow, opposite the University of Glasgow.

Glasgow University Library

Glasgow University Library in the main library of the University of Glasgow. At the turn of the 21st century, the main library building itself held 1,347,000 catalogued print books, and 53,300 journals. In total, the university library system including branch libraries now holds approximately 2.5 million books and journals, along with access to 1,853,000 e-books, and over 50,000 e-journals. The University also holds extensive archival material in a separate building. This includes the Scottish Business Archive, which alone amounts to 6.2 kilometres of manuscripts. The current 12-storey building was opened in 1968 and is a prominent landmark in Glasgow's West End. In 2014, there were over 1.7 million visits made to the library.
