Glencoe Ski area

Glencoe Mountain Resort (previously known as The White Corries Ski Centre) is a ski area that operates on the mountain Meall a' Bhuiridh in some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in Scotland. The ski area is located adjacent to the A82 road, 13 miles from the village of Glencoe, Highland, approximately 29 miles south of Fort William and 92 miles north of Glasgow.

Kings House Hotel

The Kings House Hotel is a remote inn at the eastern end of Glen Coe in the Scottish Highlands. The inn, which is in an isolated position about 2 km east of Glen Etive, stands on the edge of Rannoch Moor. It faces Buachaille Etive Mor which makes it a popular hostelry with rock climbers. In 2019 the hotel was reopened after a substantial modern redevelopment which involved the demolition of a large 1960s extension. Only the original 18th-century coaching inn was retained and incorporated into the new building. The inn is called the King's House because it was used as a barracks by the troops of the Duke of Cumberland during the subjugation of the Highlands by the British Army following the Jacobite Rising of 1745.

Meall a' Bhùiridh

Meall a' Bhùiridh (IPA:[ˈmauɫ̪ˈaˈvuːɾʲɪʝ]) is a mountain on the edge of Rannoch Moor in the Highlands of Scotland. It lies near the top of Glen Coe and Glen Etive, overlooking the Kings House Hotel inn and the A82 road. The Glencoe Ski area is located on the northern slopes of the peak. Meall a' Bhùiridh is linked by a high bealach to the neighbouring peak of Creise, and the two hills are often climbed in conjunction, starting and finishing at the ski area carpark. The Clachlet Traverse is a 25 km north-to-south route linking the inn at Inveroran with the Kingshouse. Meall a' Bhùiridh is the final of four Munros crossed on this route, the others being (south to north) Stob a' Choire Odhair, Stob Ghabhar and Creise.

Creise

Creise (Scottish Gaelic: A' Chrèise) is a mountain summit in the Black Mount range, in the Scottish Highlands. It overlooks the northern end of Glen Etive and its height is 1,100 metres (3,600 ft). Creise is one of four Munros in the Black Mount, along with Meall a' Bhuiridh, Stob Ghabhar and Stob a' Choire Odhair. The mountain is a long and flattish ridge, whose highest point was unnamed until 1981. It is popular with cross-country skiers, being near the White Corries ski area from where it is often climbed along with adjoining Meall a' Bhuiridh. The steep and craggy northern buttress, Sròn na Crèise, is well seen from the A82 road and the Kings House Hotel.

Lochan na h-Achlaise in Scottish Gaelic Loch of the Armpit, is an irregular shaped, somewhat triangular or heart shaped, freshwater loch on Rannoch Moor, Argyll and Bute in the Scottish West Highlands, within the Highland council area of Scotland.
