Abdy - Izeria

Abdy is a hamlet in South Yorkshire, England. Abdy is located about 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Swinton. The earliest reference to Abdy is in the 13th century in the cartulary of Monk Bretton Priory. It is possible that it was founded as a medieval grange and that its name is derived from the French for abbey (in this case Monk Bretton Priory or Roche Abbey).

Earthworks for a Roman Ridge Dyke runs along the southern and eastern sides of Abdy. To the north of the village is Wath Golf Course.

Warren House Colliery

Warren House Colliery was a coal mine situated to the north of Rawmarsh, near Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. The colliery within lands owned by Earl Fitzwilliam was opened in the early 19th century and closed in, or shortly after, the First World War. The pit was leased to Wakefield-based agents J. J. Charlesworth & Company. The colliery was connected underground with two other local Charlesworth pits, Warren Vale Colliery and Kilnhurst Colliery. Some remains of the colliery buildings and one of the spoil heaps still remain after almost 100 years after closure.

Rockingham Kiln

The Rockingham, or Waterloo Kiln in Swinton, in the Rotherham district, in South Yorkshire, England, is a pottery kiln dating from 1815. It formed part of the production centre for the Rockingham Pottery which, in the early 19th century, produced highly-decorative Rococo porcelain. The pottery failed in the mid-19th century, and the kiln is one of the few remaining elements of the Rockingham manufactory. It is a Grade II* listed building and forms part of the Rockingham Works Scheduled monument. The kiln is currently on the Historic England Heritage at Risk Register.

Saint Pius X Catholic High School, Rotherham

Saint Pius X Catholic High School A Specialist School in Humanities is a co-educational secondary school situated in Wath-upon-Dearne near Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England which caters for pupils aged 11 to 16. The school opened in September 1957 with 300 pupils. In September 2007 it was awarded specialist status as a Humanities College, and was renamed from Pope Pius X Catholic High School to Saint Pius X Catholic High School A Specialist School in Humanities. It also has Investors in People accreditation. The school was a voluntary aided school until 1 September 2025, when, as part of a reorganisation of Catholic education within the Diocese of Hallam, it became an academy within the St Francis Catholic Multi Academy Trust. It was the last secondary school in Rotherham to convert to academy status, six-and-a-half years after the penultimate school, the neighbouring Wath Academy.
