University Avenue station is an under-construction Metro Rail Transit (MRT) station located on the MRT Line 7 (MRT-7) system along Commonwealth Avenue in U.P. Campus, Quezon City. It will also serve as the eastern terminus of the proposed MRT Line 8 (MRT-8) system. The station itself is located within the campus of the University of the Philippines Diliman and is named after University Avenue, the main road leading towards the university.

Congressional Avenue

Congressional Avenue is a 6-kilometer six-lane highway in Quezon City, Philippines. It is one of the secondary roads in Metro Manila. Part of it is designated as part of Circumferential Road 5 of the Manila arterial road system and National Route 129 of the Philippine highway system. Commonwealth Avenue, formerly known as Don Mariano Marcos Avenue, is a 12.4-kilometer highway located in Quezon City, Philippines. It spans six to eighteen lanes, making it the widest road in the country. The avenue is one of the major roads in Metro Manila and is designated as part of Radial Road 7 of the older Manila arterial road system and National Route 170 of the Philippine highway network. Commonwealth Avenue starts at Elliptical Road, which encircles the Quezon Memorial Circle. It passes through the areas of Philcoa, Tandang Sora, Balara, Batasan Hills, and Fairview and ends at Quirino Highway in the Novaliches area. Being located in Quezon City, which is among several cities in Metro Manila with a high incidence of road accidents, the avenue has a high accident rate, particularly due to overspeeding, earning it the nickname "Killer Highway". A speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour is being enforced to reduce accidents on the avenue.

The U.P.–Ayala Land TechnoHub is an information technology hub jointly developed by the University of the Philippines Diliman and property developer Ayala Land. It is located along Commonwealth Avenue in U.P. Campus, Quezon City, Metro Manila. and occupies 20 ha of the 37.5 ha U.P. North Science and Technology Park inside the U.P. Diliman campus. The development is bounded to the north by Central Avenue and the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute, bounded to the east by the U.P. Arboretum, and bounded to the southeast by Commonwealth Avenue.

The MRT-7 system has a proposed spur line to connect itself to the LRT Line 2 (LRT-2) system at Katipunan station, passing through the University of the Philippines Diliman and Katipunan Avenue, while the MRT-8 system will terminate at this station with a spur line towards its depot further inside UP Diliman. Construction started on August 15, 2017 and was expected to end around April 2018. When completed, the station will serve the following establishments: University of the Philippines Diliman, U.P.–Ayala Land TechnoHub, Philippine Coconut Authority (PhilCoa), and the Commission on Human Rights Complex. The station, unlike the separate Quezon Memorial Circle stations of MRT-7 and MRT-8, will be situated at the same complex with the MRT-8 building platforms side-by-side the MRT-7 platforms thereby creating a common station.

Station details

University Avenue station is one of two underground stations on the MRT-7. It is located underneath Commonwealth Avenue and near University Avenue, the main road leading to the University of the Philippines Diliman campus. Apart from the university, the station will serve various landmarks including the Philippine Coconut Authority (Philcoa), Commission on Human Rights, and the U.P.–Ayala Land TechnoHub business park. The station will also be connected to various local bus routes via the TechnoHub bus stop.
