Lennoxtown

Lennoxtown (gaélique écossais : Baile na Leamhnachd) est une ville du East Dunbartonshire, en Écosse, située au pied des Campsie Fells, qui se trouvent juste au nord. La ville fait actuellement partie du council area de l'East Dunbartonshire, mais jusqu'en 1975 elle appartenait au comté de Stirling. En 2007, le Celtic FC, emblématique club de football de Glasgow, y ouvre son centre d'entrainement.

The Lennox

The Lennox (Scottish Gaelic: Leamhnachd, pronounced [ˈʎãũnəxk]) is a region of Scotland centred on the Vale of Leven, including its great loch: Loch Lomond. The name Lennox (earlier Levenax) is a pluralised form of the Gaelic word Leamhnach, denoting a Lennox man, and ultimately derives from Leamhain, the Gaelic name for the River Leven. Lennox was not one of the so-called seven ancient Provinces of Scotland, but formed as a province in the Middle Ages. The district embraced the whole of the ancient sheriffdom of Dumbarton: the parishes of Rosneath, Arrochar, Row, Luss, Cardross, Bonhill, Dumbarton, Kilmaronock, New Kilpatrick, Old Kilpatrick, Baldernock, Buchanan, Drymen, Killearn, Balfron, Fintry, and Strathblane, with Campsie and Kilsyth, being all within the bounds ruled over by the Earls of Lennox. In 1581 James VI of Scotland granted Esmé Stewart, Earl of Lennox, the title of Duke of Lennox; the title is currently held by Charles Gordon-Lennox. Under local government reforms in the mid-19th century, the province of Lennox was re-structured as the County of Dunbartonshire, when the north-eastern shore of Loch Lomond was transferred to Stirlingshire.

Lennoxtown (Scottish Gaelic: Baile Leamhnachd, pronounced [ˈpalə nə ˈʎãũnəxk]) is a town in the East Dunbartonshire council area and the historic county of Stirlingshire, Scotland. The Campsie Fells are located to Lennoxtown's north. The town had a population of 4,094 at the 2011 UK census.

East Dunbartonshire (UK Parliament constituency)

East Dunbartonshire was a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (Westminster). It elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. The seat is possibly best known for formerly being the constituency of Jo Swinson, the former Leader of the Liberal Democrats who was defeated at the 2019 general election. This version of the constituency was first used at the 2005 general election. There was also an earlier East Dunbartonshire constituency, from 1950 to 1983. Further to the completion of the 2023 review of Westminster constituencies, the seat was expanded and renamed Mid Dunbartonshire, and was first contested at the 2024 general election.
