Marleston is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, in the City of West Torrens. Marleston was home to 1,950 people at the 2021 census.
The earliest European settler in this area was Donald McLean, who selected Section 50, Hundred of Adelaide, of 80 acres in 1837, and with his family ploughed and sowed 20 acres of seed wheat, and in 1838 reaped the first harvest of wheat in South Australia. The McLean property was divided into nine allotments of 8.75 acres in the 1860s. John Marles bought allotment 7 in 1874 and subdivided it in 1879. Following World War I, there was a housing boom driven by returned servicemen. Town Planner Charles Reade persuaded several land owners to work together and developed Galway Gardens on garden suburb principles.

Ashford is an inner southwestern suburb of Adelaide, in the City of West Torrens. It is triangular in shape and bordered by South Road, Anzac Highway and Everard Avenue. Two of the main features of the suburb are Ashford Hospital and Ashford Special School.
Brownhill Creek flows through Ashford in a cement channel behind the school.
The name commemorates the property and residence of Dr. Charles George Everard, who settled in the area in 1838, and named it for Ashford, Kent.

Everard Park is a small inner south-western suburb of Adelaide in the City of Unley, once part of the extensive land holdings of the prominent colonist Dr. Charles George Everard, and the location of "Marshfield", the home of part of his family.
It is also the location of Ackland House, built for chaff merchant William Ackland in 1901.
The suburb is bounded by Anzac Highway to the northwest, South Road to the west, Norman Terrace and the Glenelg tram line to the southeast, and Third and Fourth Avenues to the east. Surrounding suburbs are Forestville, Ashford, Glandore and Black Forest.
The triangular Everard Park Reserve is located in the northern part of the suburb surrounded by Africaine, Nibley and Hillsley Avenues. Aveo Ackland Park retirement village and Lifecare Parkrose Village are located on Norman Terrace.
The suburb is served by Glenelg tram stop 5 to the southeast, stop 6 to the south west, and by many bus routes along South Road and Anzac Highway.
The art deco Roxy picture theatre building is located on Anzac Highway.

Ashford is a former electorate for the South Australian Legislative Assembly which included many of Adelaide's inner south western suburbs. The district formed part of three federal electorates: the Division of Hindmarsh, the Division of Boothby, and the Division of Adelaide. The former electorate included the suburbs of Ashford, Black Forest, Camden Park, Clarence Gardens, Clarence Park, Cumberland Park, Everard Park, Forestville, Glandore, Keswick, Kings Park, Novar Gardens and Plympton as well as parts of Edwardstown, Goodwood, Millswood, Plympton Park, South Plympton and Wayville. The former electorate covered an area of approximately 14.6 square kilometres.
The electorate's name derives from the name given by early settler Charles George Everard to his property 'Ashford' in 1838 that was thought to have the best orchard in the colony. The name was also given to a suburb within the electorate. The district of Hanson was renamed to Ashford at the 2002 election. Hanson was re-drawn from a marginal Liberal to a marginal Labor electorate at the 1993 election. Often redistributed in all directions, particularly north and east, the only constant suburb in Ashford and Hanson has been the western half of Plympton. Incumbent Liberal MP Heini Becker moved to Peake, now West Torrens, however Ashford was still narrowly won by Liberal candidate Stewart Leggett. Up until its abolition, the seat was held by Labor member Steph Key who defeated Leggett at the 1997 election. A redistribution prior to the 2014 election saw Labor's margin significantly reduced from 4.8 percent to 0.6 percent however Labor retained the seat with an increased margin of 1.9 percent.
Ashford was replaced by Badcoe at the 2018 election; with a significant increase to the Labor margin in the seat resulting from the 2016 electoral redistribution. Key announced in February 2017 that she would retire from parliament as of the 2018 election.
History
Dr William Wyatt purchased an 80-acre section of land, south-west of Adelaide, which would become Kurralta Park, in 1837. Wyatt (an early Protector of Aborigines) made his home, "Kurralta", in Burnside. "Kurralta" is said to mean "set on a hill" in the Kaurna language.
Geography
The area is bound by Anzac Highway to the south, South Road to the east, and Barwell Avenue to the north. Brownhill Creek divides the suburb. It is about 4 km from the CBD of Adelaide.
Sir Thomas Playford ETSA Museum
The museum, at the corner of Broughton and Clifford Avenues, hosts an extensive display of electricity generation and transmission equipment, also vehicles and consumer products from the "glory days" of the Electricity Trust. It is maintained by volunteers who are ex-employees of the Trust, and is open on Tuesdays.
