It was operational between 1944 and 1992; it was used by the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy, before the site was turned over to the British Army and renamed Cawdor Barracks.

Cawdor Barracks is a British Army installation located 6.3 miles east of St Davids, Pembrokeshire and 9.8 miles south west of Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, Wales.
It was an operational airfield between 1944 and 1992, being used by both the Royal Air Force and by Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm, before closing in 1992. The site was reactivated in 1995 by the British Army and became Cawdor Barracks, home to 14 Signal Regiment, the army's electronic warfare unit.

Treffynnon is a hamlet of about twenty houses located in the community of Brawdy, between St Davids and Fishguard, about a mile inland from the A487 at Croesgoch in Pembrokeshire.
On the edge of the village stands Treffynnon Chapel, a Welsh Calvinistic Methodist foundation, originally built in 1867 and rebuilt in 1876. Treffynnon has only one named road with the unusual address of Council Houses, a row of six local authority dwellings dating from the 1960s known locally as The Street.
