All Saints Church, Darton

The Church of All Saints is the parish church in the village of Darton in South Yorkshire, England. It is a Church of England church in the Diocese of Leeds. The 16th-century building is Grade I listed and was built on the site of an earlier church. 1150 Is the earliest record of a church being on the site.

Darton

Darton is a large village in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley (part of South Yorkshire), on the border with West Yorkshire, England. At the time of the 2001 UK census, it had a population of 14,927, increasing to 21,345 for both Darton Wards (East & West) at the 2011 Census.

Darton railway station

Darton railway station is a railway station in a large village of Darton, in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. Train services are provided by Northern Trains. The station was opened by the Manchester and Leeds Railway on 1 January 1850. The railway station is in South Yorkshire but West Yorkshire Metro tickets are also valid to and from this station. The reason for this is that the West-South Yorkshire boundary historically ran between the village and its main source of employment, Woolley Colliery. The car park at the station was recently reported by the local police force as having the highest incidence of vehicle break-ins in the Barnsley area, but the installation of CCTV is hoped to address this problem.

Kexbrough

Kexbrough is a village in the Barnsley district, in the county of South Yorkshire, England, on the border with West Yorkshire. The village falls within the Darton West ward of Barnsley MBC. It is located west of the M1 motorway, just south of Junction 38 at an elevation of around 351 feet (107 m) above sea level. Historically the village was known as Kexborough, and includes the hamlets of Haigh and Swithin. Until 1974 it was in the West Riding of Yorkshire.

Darton Academy

Darton Academy is a coeducational secondary school located in Darton in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. The school provides education for more than 1,200 pupils in Years 7 to 11. The school is located to the north west of Barnsley in the village of Kexbrough on the edge of the open countryside approximately one mile from junction 38 of the M1 motorway.
