Doune Hill - Izeria

Doune Hill (734 m) is a peak in the foothills of the Grampian Mountains of Scotland. It is located near the village of Luss in Argyll and Bute, west of Loch Lomond. The hill is the highest point of the Luss Hills, a southern outlier of the Grampian Mountains and stands on the edge of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Its long grassy ridge makes it a popular peak with hillwalkers.

Luss Hills

The Luss Hills are a hill range located in Argyll, Scotland. They are part of the southern foothills of the Grampian Mountains and lie west of Loch Lomond, above the village of Luss in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. A popular destination for hillwalking, the highest peak in the range is Doune Hill at 734 m. Other Hills include Beinn Eich, Beinn Dubh and Mid Hill.

Glen Douglas

Glen Douglas (Scottish Gaelic: Gleann Dùghlais) is a glen in the southwest Scottish Highlands. It is drained by the Douglas Water, which discharges at the village of Inverbeg at its eastern end into Loch Lomond. The glen is followed by a single-track road which links the A82 road alongside Loch Lomond with the A814 road beside Loch Long. The glen is overlooked to the north by Beinn Bhreac (681 m or 2,234 ft) and Tullich Hill (632 m or 2,073 ft) and to the south by Doune Hill (734 m or 2,408 ft) and a 655 m (2,149 ft) hill known as Coire na h-Eanachan. At the upper (western) end of the glen is the DM Glen Douglas military munitions depot which is connected to the railway line from Helensburgh to Crianlarich at the site of the old station. Glen Douglas has 3 farms two of which are still in use and both are named after hills in the Glen - Doune farm and Tullich Farm.

Glen Douglas Halt railway station

Glen Douglas Halt railway station was known as Craggan in the line's construction reports, also Glen Douglas Siding, Glen Douglas Platform (Private), Glen Douglas (Private) and finally Glen Douglas Halt. Opened by the North British Railway in 1894 its status has changed several times along with its official name. The form Glendouglas was also sometimes used, such as on the platform name board.

Beinn a' Mhanaich

Beinn a' Mhanaich (709 m) is a hill in the southern Grampian Mountains of Scotland. It is located in Argyll and Bute, in the southern Luss Hills north of the town of Helensburgh. The most westerly of the Luss Hills, its finest feature is its long southern ridge. An army firing range is located on the western side of the hill going down to Loch Long, and one is advised to pay attention to signs while traversing the ridge.
